it's a clean job...very nice...i personally think something needs to be there, it's a BIG empty space.

That's what I thought at first too, but after awhile I like it. It just looks sleek. I'm not into the flashy stuff.

I was thinking of doing something like this too, but maybe putting a holder for a phone/ipod there instead of just covering it up.

I actually thought about the same thing but my phone is too big and as often as I change phones, I would be updating the console alot.

                  Re: Shaving ashtray

Wouldn't be much of a how to. I just cut out the ashtray with a dremel, put a piece of cardboard underneath the hole, bondo'd the top as smooth as I could get it. After that I sanded it, then painted it. Added some more bondo if needed, sanded, painted, sanded, painted, til it was smooth. I used cheap walmart flat black paint.

Quick other question. Did you make the bondo textured like the rest of the area surrounding or how did you come about it?

                          Re: Shaving ashtray

I just sanded everything with high grit sandpaper. With the flat black it doesn't look like the imports with the glossy painted interior.

You did the whole upper center console? Does it clash with all of the other textured plastics?

No, cause I also did my radio bezel because I customized it for a double din head unit. Also they were both black to begin with.
