  • How do you remove the cursed upper center console?

I have messed with this stupid "cover" on the center console on my 2000 Firebird on two different occasions for about a half hour each time and cannot get it off... I want to take the thing off so I can fabricate something over the cubby hole thing.

    *Overuse of the word "thing"*:spank:

The picture attached, the yellow circles is what I have accomplished. The two near the bottom are the two 7mm bolts that are under the coin holder... The other one is the removal of shift knob and position of the shifter.

The RED "circle" thing is where the issue is. The whole console moves except for right there, on the right side where the two fascias meet. It does not move... I don't even know how you would begin to get in there if there is a bolt.

    ANY input would be appreciated.

EDIT: Also removed the ash tray from under the lid and the cigarette lighter from its hole.

There are also 2 screws in the very bottom of the center console, and 2 (driver, passenger side) in the very front under the radio area.

If you want to remove just the upper part (the PRNDL part), then just pull up and back softly but with some force on the cupholder area. It should just pop out, but don't yank it out because there will be wires attached to the light at the gear selector and cigarette lighter.

Bigair's right, I forgot it comes out in 2 sections. The way I described is to take the entire thing out. Its been awhile since Ive had mine apart.

Yeah. Just the upper section. It looks like there is a clip in the red circled area but it doesnt seem like it wants to disconnect. So I just need some fkrce..? I dont like that but gotta do what ya gotta do... Haha.

you removed the coin changer right that sits on top of the bolts right? LOL J/K.

You have it though, just the two bolts circled yellow, the shift knob, and the rest should slide back and up slowly. The cigarette lighter and the shift light are connected on the bottom so gotta remove that once you get the upper console off.

My disassembly skills are fine. I am only being cautious as to not break anything.

Figured I'd be safe than sorry and ask around before I begin pulling things out that cannot be pulled.
