Hey guys. So today when I get in my car after work I reached behind the passenger seat to grab my phone charger, and reached into a puddle of water. I have no idea how it got there, the window was all the way up and my t-top didn't show any evidence of leaking. I reached under the car and pulled the plug to drain it all out, there was a lot of water. Anybody have an idea as to how the water got back there? Also, how do I dry the carpet?

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
Hatch gasket could be bad. Your car essentially turns into a puddle lol! If your t-tops and window aren't leaking, that's the next logical step is to look at the hatch area. When was the last time you had rain?

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
I would do the 'ol water test, have someone hold a hose over your car while you search for leaks inside. If you have a wet/dry shop vac, vac up the area as well as you can and leave the doors open for a little while so it wont smell.3M MAFIA

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
check under the carpet in the front drivers side.. is it wet or damp at all also, or only the rear? (reason im asking is because ive seen it before where the leak was in the firewall and when it rained it rolled to the lowest spot back behind the seats where you are describing).. worth a shotDave:

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
Its been raining here for a little while now, but the puddle wasn't there before yesterday. The first day snow was forecasted is today but I havnt looked outside yet, I doubt there's any on the ground. The passenger front is a little damp actually, right beside the hump for the cat. There's no water on or under the seat though. Ill have a buddy help me do the water test this weekend.1997 Chevrolet Camaro

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
My only experience with that was a leak at the rear seal of the T-top that ran down the sail panel into the rear passenger footwell. It wasn't actually the T-top itself that leaked but where the weatherstripping meets the car on the B-pillar where the water is supposed to drain into the inside of the weatherstrip and go out the door sill. At least check that little drain hole in the weatherstrip for blockage as that was my culprit. Good luck finding that leak.

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
Well I checked the hatch for leakes and found none, and also the panel behind the door (sail panel?) Same thing. I havnt done a test with the hose yet because its been pretty cold out, but it snowed yesterday and I checked after I defrosted my car and didn't find any water on the floor board. When I drained the water out, the plug looked to me like it was put in upside down, from the inside of the car so it was in backwards, is it supposed to be that way? Because I had to push the plug up from under the car to get it out. When I put it back in, I put it in from under the car.1997 Chevrolet Camaro

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
I havnt checked the front yet, but I bet the front leakes because I ran an amp wire through the firewall through the gromet under the pcm.1997 Chevrolet Camaro

Re: Pool of water behind seat.
I figured out the leak in the back seat. It is the t top. It wasn't raining at the time when I discovered the pool, so I didn't see any water when I pulled the top off. But after the water test, I could see water running down the sail panel. My driver side always leaked a little, id get a drip on my arm every once in a while, but the passenger side never had any problems till now. Looks like ill be buying t top weather stripping very soon.1997 Chevrolet Camaro
