I was some new rims for my 97 camaro. I plan on taking it autocrossing and road course racing. I know the stock rims are 16" x 8" and I wanted to get 17s or 18s so I could get some decent gripping rubber for them. just wondering what anyone would recommend for racing.

I would be more concerned with the weight of the wheel and what size tire I was wanting to put on it. Its hard to find any info on how airflow to the brakes is affected by the wheel. If you want the same size all the way around the 275/40R17 is pretty common. If you want a staggered look like 17" in front and 18" in back for example there are tons size combinations. In that case you will want to look at overall diameters especially on the rear tires because it will affect your gearing.

I went through at least 16 rims to get 4 straight ones for a customers 68 Firebird.
The rest were all warped/bent right from the factory.
