What is the widest 15" rim/tire combo I can fit up front? I'd like to run a prostar setup on the car this year maybe, but I don't want to run a "skinny" up front. I don't really want to go with something less than a 215-235ish wide tire up front so that I do not loose braking abilities

You can do 275's up front with no rubbing. I don't know if they have 15"s in that size. -

The 245/60R15 cooper cobra is 26.55" diameter, and the 265/50R15 hankook h101 is 25.4" diameter.

The 245 - 7.00" to 8.50". The 265 - 7.50"-9.00" As far as backspacing you'll just have to measure unless someone here knows off the top of their head.Comment

Its measured from the mating surface of the wheel where it touches the rotor back into the fender well. I would start by measuring the backspacing of your current wheels.Comment
