  • What can I do about this?

Not really Fbody related but you guys are knowledgeable. The hot desert sun is eating away at my clear coat and it's spreading like cancer on my suv.

Is there anything I can do about it. Also, what can I do with these ugly spots. I've sanded it down with an 800 paper.

How can I prep this and paint over this?

^^ Glad to see that's still seeing good use.

It's worth noting that it's posted over here as well in the FAQ.

Check out paintscratch.com or duplicolor perfect match for a factory matched color. Since your hood is red and obviously has had quite a bit of sun exposure, I would suggest either painting the whole hood or at least feathering out the new color, perhaps even painting the whole front 6 inches or so of the hood and fading out so that the new paint doesn't stand out as being much richer as reds tend to fade worse than other colors.

Ibanezz did an incredible job on his black camaro...99% of people could not do it that well.

Not me lol. The fellow who wrote it did a great job Haha.

But towards the OP, if your hood has that much sun fade I imagine the whole car is a little faded. You could repaint the hood with stock paint, but it might look out of place.
