To explain, when the headlights are down, one is flush and sits perfect with the body lines while the other leaves a gap. I know it's probably nothing major but I would like to fix that gap and make it symmetric with the other head light fixture.
How do I go about doing this? I'm assuming I have to remove the top of the fixture that's painted the color of my car.. But how to I adjust it? Has anyone been there, done that? Any help would be appreciated!

I've changed my Headlight Motors a couple of years ago and I don't think or remember I saw anything that would adjust it. I don't think those stoppers can be adjusted. I could be wrong.
But, I think you can adjust the lids to slide down a little bit more from the back side.
The best thing to do is to remove the cover and the lid and see if there's anything that can be adjusted.
BTW... I looked at your Firebird again that you posted in the Lounge and the headlights look normal. That's exactly how mine are and I've had mine since new.
I'll take better pictures tomorrow and post up the pictures. I can fit half my hand under one headlight in the down position. On the other, I can't even get a finger tip under it.

Remove that nipple that covers the knob. Manually turn the knob to lift the headlight up. Remove the lid and cover. You'll see the arm of the headlight motor that goes to one stopper to another. See if that arm is damage.
If the arm is OK look at the stopper at the bottom and if I remember it is adjustable with a 10mm socket.
I'm not sure if you can access it with that tight opening. You may need to remove the whole assembly.
Thanks! I'll have to check it out on my next day off.

from the looks of it, the stoppers are not adjustable. I only had about 15 min left of daylight but i found that the passenger headlight mechanism was getting caught on a bolt that holds the motor in place. I took it out and put the head of the bolt on that side so now that mechanism clears it. Same problem with the uneven-ness. Sunday I'm just going to adjust the headlight covers so they match up, since tomorrow I have an 11 hour shift. bleh

The stopper you're pointing to is actually non existent on either head light assembly on my car. lol. However, the one I pointed to is one of the two that the actual motor arm bumps against. There is another one (not in this picture) that is below it and oriented 90 degrees. They're not adjustable and they are what seems to be the bump stops for the mechanism.
