I think theres a difference between seeing that a license plate is there and being able to know what the license plate says at a distance of 50 feet.

I know its not my plate Bliggida, but I am just confused because I might do the same grill as you.

The sentence before the one I quoted says:

quote:
Originally posted by Bliggida:
Because you are eye to eye with the Camaro, near the ground, you can see the plate more. "

So I thought you meant when looking eye to eye with it and you stand up you cant see it at all, but now you say its being view from the side?

I bought the exact same grill, blig, and it's confusing on how to install it with the zip ties? I guess I'll see for myself when it gets in on thursday

I think it's a pretty good idea man, nice thinkin'
I've been wondering what I can do to keep the front lines of the car smooth without interruption, but still have my front plate out there. I thnk I'm gonna give your idea a shot too once my grill comes in. It's not like it's a largely enforced law about front plates (at least where I am), so if I anything, I'm sure it's arguable if it does cause a problem. Either way, it seems like everyone's going way overboard about this. Many people have something or another illegal on their car, including many skimping on their front plates completely, at least he's in between if anything. I like the idea

looks good but i would get pulled over in a heartbeat for something like that. a friend got ticketed last year just because he had one of those smoke-clear covers on his plate and it wasn't all that visible at night, even though you could easily read it. looks good though

You will be stopped especially with this new plate law. Be prepared for it, that ticket will be the snap back to reality that you didnt want. Then we can all laugh and say told ya so... If the plate is not easily decernable to the unaided eye (this means clearly readable to the unaided eye with out having to squat down on your knees like you about to suck somone off while shining a light down their pee hole.)

Oh and dont forget wear your seat belt when they stop you... they are beefing up tickets for that one too! ;) :D

Why does anyone care if its legal/illegal? If he gets a ticket, he's the one who has to pay it. At any rate, I think it looks cool. Good job man.

I like it and could care less if it’s illegal.

Some of my favorite things on this planet are illegal depending on where you do them.

See living in Oklahoma any sexual position other than missionary is "illegal" (or so I’ve heard) but if I get caught doing-it-doggy, well somehow I don’t think I will care.
I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.
The rest I have blown.

                    Liscense plate law changes
You might want to check this out. Keep in mind it's already in effect. Note how the word obscure is used. I think almost anyone could agree that your front liscense plate is obscured. Not to be an a** and piss on your idea, but I would be careful if I were you.

                      blig, a little advice...

it's not really 'christian' so to speak to try to manipulate the laws that have been made.

that's all i can say before i become 'judgemental'

Yeah, his license plate is kinda hard to see, but I could read the numbers in the first pic (Unaided). However, I do doubt that some cops will agree with his interpretation of the law. Still though, for those that have the billet grille, and can't find a suitable mounting place, try your air dam. I haven't seen it done, but it might work. Either way, Blig, I hope the plates work out good for you.

I just got that same grille, and you're right blig - the instructions suck!!!!

The zip ties wouldn't work.. so I went to True Value and bought some clear string sort of stuff.. it's more like thin plastic that I used to wrap it around the stock grille... pics soon...

After having it installed for a couple days now. It is actually a lot easier to see than even I first thought. It must have been due to the unusually overcast day it was installed.

In daylight, or night. ANY...any amount of light makes the thing pop out. Its easier to see at a distance than if you are closer to the vehicle. 20 more than 10 feet etc.

I ran the stock grille with no plate for over a month now, including getting stopped for other traffic violations. Wasn't given any trouble for that. At least my plate is visible now.

But, I might do one of the two, I got a chance to see the SLP grille-intended license plate relocation bracket. Putting the middle of the plate half way down on the lower chin of the nose. That doesn't look too bad
                              Or
I might flatten the plate back out and stick it underneath, on the air dam.
If I do I'll take pictures of that too.

NB2000, I dunno if that comment was just a cheap shot? But my guess would be you aren't Christian yourself, and don't actually care one way or the other what I do other than for an excuse to be rude? I don't recognize you as a spiritual authority to tell me what is and is not a 'christian' attitude. Suffice it to say, I am not a rule-toting pharisee that plans on getting into heaven my being good. As a christian you'd probably be aware of a New Testament passage which Jesus indicates, it is only through Him, (His saving grace) not through good works, that a man can enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Being Christian isn't about following the rules, that will get you no where but to the realization you can't carry your own load by simply following all the rules, you're imperfect and will lose that battle. Being Christian is about Christ, and furthering a passionate relationship with Him on an intimate level. Whether I have broken the law or not, God knows where my heart is, and is aware that I did not do this or any other violation on purpose or with the specific intent on disobeying my government.

For everyone else, thank you for the compliments. Letcha know if I change it.

I'm a born again Christian myself, Blig, of the Baptist faith. Thank you though, for just assuming that I was just taking a cheap shot at you, when in reality I was trying to tell you that you should obey the laws. It just shows me that I need to be kinder when attempting to give friendly advice to a fellow christian sorry i failed.
I know that it is through his saving grace that we make heaven, not our works on this earth, but in the book of Joshua it states "to read the book daily and prosper"...so read your bible every day. Also, I believe it's in 2nd Timothy where Paul writes, "Study to show thyself approved" The 9th commandment, thou shalt not bear false witness. You're a man of law, why attempt to manipulate or break it? Again, forgive me for coming off harsh, but please don't assume I'm just trying to judge you when I in reality am trying to give advice to another brother
