  • Damn all spiders to hell...............

I recently (2 hours ago) got into an accident with my car. Unfortunately it was my fault in that I rearended the car infront of me. There was a spider crawling up my leg while i was driving and it bit me and I went to get it off and looked back up and boom. I want to get a rough estimate on what you guys think this will cost to get fixed. I'm pretty sure the hood is gone and maybe I'll be able to get an aftermarket SS hood, for the price of a stock replacement? Anyways heres the link to the album and tell me what you think. Thanks

Ouch! that really sucks dude. Did you at least kill the dumb spider?? I would've squashed that thing to h3ll and back. The damage doesnt look horribly bad, it almost looks from the pictures like just the hood is messed up and the paint on the front end there, but maybe I'm just lookin at it wrong. Good luck either way, and hope everything works out for ya.

Can you take any more pick under the hood?
It looks like the front bumper brackets are snapped, but is there any bent metal in there. Specifically on the passenger underside.

dood im sorry , thats a nice looking camaro man, i havnt seen that one on ehit board for some reason... Know what the crazy thing is? I got a wings west kit and a set of those exact same stripes sitting in my garage... only dif is that im gonna get a SS or RS spoiler... but it will look nearly the same...

well i guess good thing if u got full coverage...Get estamtes from dealerships only. Then buy stuff from junkyard or eBay... get you an SS hood off eBay for half the price of a stock hood

wow, that's kinda strange. I rear ended a Tahoe, but there was no spider. Did the airbags deploy? If so, it was exactly like mine. To get a new bumper, hood, airbags, passenger side dash, airbag sensors, and front bumper cover for my car with paint and GM parts was a little under $6k from a reputable shop. Airbags alone are around 6 or 700 apiece and you're taking a huge risk unless you get them from GM. BTW, it's illegal to send airbags through the mail. Sorry man, just know that other people (me) are going through the same thing. :(

Well I had to go to one of my insurance companys shops, and they quoted me $2411. Thats without opening the hood to see damage inside the hood compartment. They quoted a used hood and a used bumper, whats the fun in that, I was hoping they'd get me a new one so I can get an SS hood. The used one costs like $325, and I don't think I can find an SS hood cheaper than that. They actually considered the car unsafe to drive, and opening the hood would cause all these legal problems since I had to drive it home. Well damn there goes my hood idea.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO WHERE THEY SAY TO GET AN ESTIMATE! GO TO A NEW CAR DEALERSHIP!

YOU CAN GET PRICES FOR NEW STUFF. They had you go to that one place so they could save money... a USED hood will not be the same as a NEW hood...paint will not be as good if they dont do even MORE work to make sure it is like new..

Just go to dealerships and get estimates from them DO NOT go where ur insurance TELLS you to go... use this , " I only trust the dealership where my grandfather gets his car worked on"

You still may be able to get an SS hood. VFN Fiberglass makes a ton of different Camaro hoods for a pretty low price. I've read about a lot of guys on LS1.com with them, and they all say that the fitment and quality is great. Check out their website though, they dont have an exact SS replica, but they have a few variations and some cool hoods for really low prices. I'm thinkin about going to them when I finally get my hood done

no co2, its either electric or pyrotecnic's (sp?) their in no way a new bag can blow having never been hooked to anything.
