  • Streamlining the bird

My baby is sitting at the body shop as I type this. I wrecked it last year and it needed a new rear quarter panel. I decided to go all out and buy a ram air hood, TA bumpers, 98-02 honeycombs, shave the handles and get new style door badgings. I decided I might as well get the whole thing painted too. Midnight black with silver accents. My question is the about the moldings that run from the front fender back along the door to the rear quarter. The body man said that since I'm shaving the handles that it would look better without this molding sticking out. I need your opinions to help me decided. By the way its a 95 firebird.

If you are shaving the handles, get rid of the molding too. Just do a lil walking when you park, no biggie.

Get rid of them! They are too low to actually do any good and your car will look a lot better with out them. You also wont have to worry about excess polish getting between the cracks.

Me 4, but out of curiosity how much is it costing to get your handles shaved (including your door poppers). I really want to get that done, but I have yet to look into pricing on that.

I purchased the kit from www.autoloc.com and with 50lb. solenoids and poppers it cost a little over $500. I did all the wiring and installation myself except for actually covering the handles and locks. As far as the cost of getting them fiberglassed over I have no idea because it will be included in the total cost of painting it. And I will be glad to post some pics of my baby when I get it back.
