hey guys....
yesterday i was driving home, and one of my headlights burned out.
now, for some time i had been dissapointed with the brightness of my lights. so i got creative.
i went to autozone, and bought 4 sylvania silverstar bulbs. (number 9005 they are 70 watts a piece)
http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm
then once i got home, i hollowed out the back of the sealed unit bulbs with my dremmel. once that was done, i put in the silverstar, and jb (quick)welded it up. i had to trim a little bit of the plastic on the bulb to get at the electrical connections on the bulb and wire them into the existing firebird headlight plugs. all in all it proved to be very difficult, and took about an hour per bulb. but if you're a wizard with the dremmel, and are really carefull not to shatter the sealed glass unit, and just make that little dime sized circle in the back to remove the existing bulb, and insert the silverstar, it's doable. the pic below is next to my buddies new mustang. he has his brights on...and my firebirds are twice as bright. (and we all know how crazy bright ford lights are)let me know what you guys think.

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/mobile-e...xehid27wa.html Fog Light

www.autooptiks.com I have the 100W H7UH for both Low/High Beam.

Hey clean, you might do a search for the High Beam Fog Light Mod....I noticed when you had your High Beams on your Fog lights went out. If you do the mod when you turn your high beams oh your fog lights will stay on. This mod is just a matter of cutting a wire....Think its brown...but you better look for the post. Just incase you wanted to know :)

I believe that it is manditory by law that the fog lights go off when the high beams are one. You might want to check that one. I had a friend who installed fog lights in his car, but he did it so he could turn them on whenever he wanted. So come inspection time he had left them on (rainy day) and since they didn't turn off when the high beams went on, they wouldn't give him a new sticker. Stupid law if you ask me.

its a dot regulation, only 4 forward facing lights.

fogs turn off when highs come on.

easily defeated ... cut and ground one wire.

can someone find that regulation, I'm pretty interested in reading that. But I have had no trouble with mine. Seems like if your more visible the better. but thanks for the heads up

SuprSpdDB7 same thing happened to me, I got the 50W fog lights.....melted....then I fould 37.5W lights.....melted but took about 6 months to do.....Now I've found the stock 27W lights that imitate HID, so now i have to order new housings (PN 10443844) and put the 27W bulbs in there. Wish I had done some research before i did all that...oh well...learn as you go

Thats kind of a no brainer right there... 60w bulb in a max of 30 max bulbs place.... do that at home in a lamp and see if it doesn't melt or catch on fire.

thanks for all the replies guys.
sorry i took so long to reply, but i've been away for a week.
i do alot of country driving (which is the reason i did the mod in the first place)so i'm interested in that fog light mod too. (ohio doesn't have inspection) and if i see another car coming, i kill my bright's...so then it's no different than it is now.
i'm going to search for that mod on the board, but if anyone has any info on it....that would totally rock.

p.s.- that law came into efect because of the late 80's mustang's. the combination of there headlights and foglights was so bright that oncoming drivers were blinded. (crazy ford, with it's crazy bright headlights.....)
