MBA Shift Knob Question

I'm going to pick up one of those MBA Phoenix knobs but I'm not sure what size, which is closer to stock? (2 or 2 1/4 inch)
Also they come with or w/o a tail.....what the hell is a tail?
Please help me out so I can get my order in.
