• Thinking about painting my calipers

Well, I'm getting sick of the Dull metal look and I am deciding to paint my calipers. Only 1 problem though, what color? I painted my rear drums black, and I'm afraid if I paint the calipers a different color they would look stupid. Should I just go w/ the Black paint again? Oh and by the way, my car is red.

red car? your accent color is probably black
ether paint your caliper black to match the drum,or paint them both(disc and drum) red :D

hey man, it's funny, i was about to post the same thing. well i was wondering how to paint them? i mean, do i just take the tire off, get some enamel paint and a small paintbrush and just paint away, or is there a certain technique and a certain kind of paint to get? thx.

btw i think you should do black all around, i wouldn't change the front calliper's color while the drums are black. my 2 cents.

It would take a millon years to brush paint 'em.
autozone has high-temp. paint in lots of colors.
mask of what you don't want painted and spray away

yup, I have some 500 degree engine enamel gloss black paint, gonna use that. You take the brake pads off, and cover the rotor w/ a bag or mask it off, and just start paintin

I did my red camaro's calipers in red w/ the 1200* red paint from autozone (they were out of the 500*). I like it better than black, I saw one with black and it didn't stand out at all in my opinion.

I say paint black and use either a chrome or red firebird caliper decal to accent them.

I'm going to be polishing mine this Thursday...maybe you might want to try that? Here's a write-up on how to do it. Otherwise I would to the calipers red with black decals :D

i have the same question, what color would you recommend for a Teal(dark green) 99 Camaro with the stock rims? You can't really see the calipers unless you really look for them, but some people still notice them

the polished caliper looks tight, and the painted caliper looks tight, but if you have about 2+ hours and some 150-200 grit sandpaper, just go out to your car, take your wheel off and just start sanding down every part of the caliper that is visible to the eye. you will be quite impressed at how much better your caliper will look just from doing that; and the project is practically $$$ free.

it depends on your car and the rims you have on it though don't you think?

if you have some dull chrome rims, having the calipers shining too much will throw the whole thing off. just my 2¢

i might do that once I get some american racing torque trust 2 rims that I want.

I agree that the polished calipers look awesome, but I've heard it alot of work. More like 3+ hours. Some guys on the LS1tech.com message board were talking about it, and I saw that WS6 in the above link. Most of the guys on their said that those were some of the best looking sanded/polished calipers they had seen, so I would imagine that's why he put up a site.

well i have the factory rims from 97 camaro...kind of the dull chrome...and when i sanded my calipers down, well, they look that exact same color now...looks tight. so ya, i guess it does, or should, depend on the color of your rims.
