• How do I remove Firebird logo on tailight panel?

On the black piece in between the tailights, my FIREBIRD and the logo have faded. I got a new, reflective one from the Autografics link in my sig. How do I take the old one off though? I know I can't just buff it off. Do I have to wetsand it? What is wetsanding, and how would I go about doing this? I don't want to scratch up the black plastic panel.

The main question is HOW DO I WET-SAND? Instructions, please?

you don't need to wet sand it. go to wal-mart and buy a can of "GOOF-OFF" it's made to remove paint if you get it on something you don't want to. it took my old bird off in like 20 minutes, and left it very shiny and black. also left a very very faint outline which let me line up the new decals right.

That, or Goo-Gone. You could try fingernail polish remover, but don't wipe too much and too hard!

The best way I think is the wetsanding method. I had tried the goo-gone but it only took off the dullness and made it brighter. Wetsanding will also remove the raised portion that is there from the bird and lettering where as the goo gone just removes the paint.

Here's what you need: 1500-2000 Grit Wet/Dry Sandpaper and 3M fine-cut rubbing compound.

Wet sand the tailfiller. All you do is dip the sandpaper in a bowl/container of water and start sanding. Make sure the paper is very wet and dripping. it'll take about 20 minutes or less depending on how faded it is. The tail filler will look very dull at this point. Take the rubbing compound and follow directions on the bottle. It may take 5 times or so to get it back to its high shine but it will shine back up. I did this to mine and it looks great. Nail polish remover will dull you plastic!! Dont use it.
