like..there are some places around where i am that only charge about 500 bucks... is that worth it?

how about a factory paint job. i hear its only about 1200 bucks.. that sound right?

im just sick of the teal color.. ever since i saw batmans car.. i fell inlove with the black on black scheme..which is what i've been wanting to do to my car for the longest time..

black paint, black tint, blackouts, black rims. i think it would just look sweet.

it is like $40/hr at my local chevy dealership. They do not charge for paint, just a flat 40 an hour. so by the time you figure paint removal, prime, layers of paint, then clear coat = a few Gs. But that is at a dealership, and they always overcharge. I'd look at a collsion place or a bodyshop, they might be cheaper.

Or save yourself time with the dealership and prep it yourself.

Personally with paint, I would look for the best I could find. That is such a major part of the appearance of the car, get someone with a good reputation that backs up their work w/ a guarantee. Talk to him, make sure he/she takes pride in their work, and is just as concerned about making your car show quality as you are.

DO NOT go to Maaco. I'm serious when I say its a 2 year paint job. After that, it goes to ****.

Find someone good, save up the money, and then do as much of the prep work as you can do yourself. Generally, its not very hard, just very time consuming and very tedious.

how would i do the prep work myself. cause im thinking about bringing it to my dealership.

what exactly would i have to do to make it READy for painting?

would i have to be a professional to do this?

Listen to everybody here when they say do not take it to Maaco. My car was originally getting painted by a guy that does paint jobs for classic cars...but there was a 3 week or more waiting list before he could do my car...i really didn't want to wait that long. My dad ended up taking it to Maaco (of course I didn't know this). When I finally got it back (the first time) it really looked like ****...overspray everywhere, under the spoiler not even painted etc. So we took it back and told them to do it again. The second time it still looked like **** so we took it a detailing place and they wet sanded MOST of the bad spots out but there is still a few overspray spots (for example my stock muffler is red) and a few bubbles in the paint. Under no circumstances do not take it to Maaco.
2000 Navy Blue Metallic WS-6<br />Stock for now.
