  • Cracked Dashboard (Please Recommend)

    Dear Fellow Camaro Owners,

Luck had been on the side of my dashboard for so long until ... C R A C K!!!

Now my dashboard is in several pieces and I ask you, "What are my options?". I know there are dashboard covers, but I've never been a fan.
The car is currently at the dealer getting some oil leaks fixed and while it is there I figured to round up an already high service fee and I'd buy a $300+ dashboard replacement. Is this my only option aside from a dashboard cover? There are sites that sell carbon fiber trim kits, but do they sell the big dashboard in carbon fiber. Please advise soon! Thanks!

I replaced mine also, i didn't know any better and purchased from the dealer. gmpartsdirect sells them (and most everything else) for a signifcantly cheaper price. Or you can call local junk yards, $300 is to much, maybe $50-75 junkyard/ebay, 100+ gmpartsdirect.

I tried searching a bit, and couldn't find info on the 3rd generation dash crack replacement.
For the '98+, it takes 5 mins to swap old out, new in.

Personally i'd stay away from dash pads, maybe just from the ones i've seen in person. . but there might be some that look decent/nice.

Thank you for the tip. I will definitely look into that alternative.

        About the Carbon Fiber dash...

I remember about two or three years ago RKSport had a CF dash for sale. It was the complete dash and center console. I noticed that it disappeared from their site, and while ordering some floor mats over the phone, asked the guy where the dash was. He said that they would be putting it back up in a while, to check the site and it should be back. Like I said this was two or three years ago, and I still don't have one. It was a little costly, $900 with a $200 core. So after you shipped your dash back to them it would end up being $700. It looked great though, I feel it was worth it. But I am still looking around for one.

I have a dash mat on my Camaro. It did look like crap in the begining, but once started forming to the dash it looks fine. Dash mats are a love it or hate it item.

Just be careful putting the new one in, its really easy to break those damn things. When I replaced my friends in her '94 i covered the back of it in sound dampening, that way it gave it sometihng else between to hopefully stop the reocurance. And stoped it from making noise when driving on really bumpy roads. Just an idea, but be careful no matter what you do.

I had the same problem, I just ordered a dashcover for 30$, its not better than having a new dash but it gets the job done and doesnt bother me.
