I'm thinking about removing my side moldings. I've already done a search on this site and found a lot of good info about the subject. What's everyone's opinion about this? Is the clean look worth the risk of possible damage? Should I remove the side molding and leave the FIREBIRD logo or take that off too? Thanks for all comments

I just got done taking the FIREBIRD door emblem off of my car, inwhich I am going to replace it with a new one. I am considering taking the side molding off too. I used a hairdryer and a fishing line to get the emblems off. They came right off pretty easy, but I had a lot of cleaning up to do because of all the rubber that held it to the car. I think I am going to like the clean look of my car without the side molding.-Rick

Bright White \'95 Firebird Convertible 3.4L A4 - Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-back, Zexel Torsen Posi-traction, Black Checkered Stripes, Clear Corners, Misc. Do you think dental floss would work instead of fishing line? I think I'm going to try it on my Camaro first. If I mess it up it won't be a big deal. It'll at least be good practice before I try it on my bird. Thanks for the comments so far.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/857214

Heat, use a hair dryer first to warm up the sticky tape. I just took my off the other day and I used heat and a putty knife (very carefully) and they came right off. I dont suggest that cuz you run a huge risk of scratching the paint. Heat and fishing line will work better.
Remember, if you take them off, the sticky tape residue will still be left on the car. The best way to remove that is a rubber wheel on a cordless drill OR 3M Wax and Grease remover. Dont use the drill plus the grease remover! We do either of those at our shop for taking off decals, emblems and moldings and works great.sigpic

thanks for the tips. I started taking the side moldings off of my camaro today. I didn't use floss or anything just my hands. I really like the way it looks. Hopefully I can work up the nerve to remove them from my bird.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/857214

looks good. I've noticed that most of the camaros and firebirds in magazines have the side molding removed. I should have done it last week when it was warmer now it is snowing. I'll post pics when i do ithttp://www.cardomain.com/ride/857214
