• Side Pipes Yes or No??

guys im thinking this would look bad@ss!

what i want to do is go an exhaust system that will put the pipes on the side like so

naturally i would use either the wings west or W68 GFX with a part cut out for the pipes. also, do you guys think that it would be possible to have them on both sides?? or would i only be able to have em on the pass side?

I guess I\'d have answer your question with another question.

How many Abidiginals do you see in modeling??????

headers, 3inch magnaflow cat, Loudmouth
99 Midnight Blue Firebird
3.8L A4

everything would be custom done from the headers back. 2 cats would have to be used, and i dunno if u wanna use an x pipe before u split them or not. would u use mufflers or just go straight pipe, cuz mufflers would help keep her quieted down some.

actually i might use resonators as opposed to mufflers, if i only do 1 side then i will use the resonator from my loudmouth, i couldnt use headers because of california law, but i am going to have tubular manifolds installed. from there i could go custom y-pipe(really short), high flow cat, then resonator, pipes+tips. i dunno if i can even actually fit all of that in there.

i guess ill think of it then when the time comes

if you're gonna go with WW they say to keep the pipes 1" off the kit and sticking out 1" so it doesnt melt em.

seems like a reasonable recommendation to me

umm, cali won't let u do true sidepipes either. u'd have 2 get 2 cats, and ur not allowed to mess w/ the stock setup unless it's carb approved.

why not? it would be a regular exhuast setup, but instead of having the pipes come out of the back, the run out tof the sides? thes a newer dodge ram at school that has this done so i would think that its fine, besides i doubt cops are gonna stop me and question if everything is carb apporved.

about the exhaust manifolds, ive already checked with an exhaust shop and they gave me the thumbs up saying that it would be allowed.

would i still have to follow these recommendations if im going to be putting it in the same place as on the '68 above? i wouldnt think so because the only place that the heat from the exhaust would go would be the wheels behind it. but ill still place it at least 1 inch away from the gfx ahead of it.

If you want sidepipes the FIRST question is do you want them out of one side or two? And do you want a TRUE DUAL exhaust or do you want to save $$$ and have it be a single pipe, single muffler, single cat that once it hits the mufflers single inlet it has a dual outlet so you can have that "dual sidepipe" exhaust look? Hell, ill post more about this tomorrow -- I have tons of sidepipe exhausts on cars, so I'll help you out. But its 2:30 and I'm going to bed!!

If you can deal with all of the problems I'd say go for it. I've seen an SS around here with 3" oval tips on each side and it looks pretty good. If you want more input post in the exhaust section.
