I have a question about tinting my rear window on my 94 firebird. On the very top my window has these very small black dots, I think all Firebirds/Camaros of this year have them. Well anyways the guy at the shop says that if I tint the window it will bubble were the dots are because the tint will not stick to the glass properly. The tint that I have on now is bubbling only on the area were the dots are. My question is has anyone had this problem before? I dont want to spend my hard earned cash to have the tint bubble again. One more thing the guy at the shop says that if you tint your rear window you have to have it done with two pieces of tint instead of one whole piece. He says that if it is done with one piece it will bubble. Well any help would be appreciated. Some pics of your rear tint job would be cool too.

the dots up top will look funny cause of the tint, but ive never seen it bubble on a quality tint job.
and yes, unless you get a bigass 1 pc. tint, it will have to be 2, but they can hide it in the defroster line if you have rear defrost.

mine is one piece, goes over the dots at the top, i have had no problems. the quality of the tint & the quality of the work done is what causes bubbles.
shop around a bit. the place i got mine tinted at has a lifetime warranty on the tint & their work. if it bubbles, they fix at no cost.
definitly get the one piece, definitly get a lifetime warranty.

Not gonna happen man. I am a line operator with Pilkington which is the company that makes the F-Body glass along with windshields, side lites, and back glass for EVERY brand sold in America and some overseas. We also make the glass for the space shuttle as well as several military aircraft. Those dots are called "dot matrix". It is a special paint that is baked on at 1300 degrees just before the glass enters the tong furnace to be tempered. I agree those dots are stupid. They are only on there for looks. It is near impossible to remove them completly. The best solution is to have a tint shop lay vinyl on either the inside or outside of the glass covering the dots. Mine is done on the outside and looks really good with my 5% tint. Let me know if you have any questions

http://www.cardomain.com/id/nitroxxx28

My tint is from 97 and was a quality one pc. installation. Only last year did it start to seperate from the dot matrix on the top. I need to soap and squeegee it back. If they do a good job, it will last. Do not let them do a two pc. job.
