  • rear light up "firebird"?

I was wondering if anyone has tried to make the "firebird" on the center tail light panel light up like the Sunfires have their "pontiac" lit up. I can't be the only person to think of this and it couldn't be that difficult (tedious yes). Any advice or ideas would be great or if it has been posted on here before the link would be awsome.

Do a search. I know someone did it to their firebird. It took LOTS of fiberoptic wire and he had it attached to a color wheel so it changed colors.

I know I have seen a firebird cover you can put on your 3rd brake light. I haven't seen the center panel light up.

Not easy to do with firebirds because its a painted on symbol on a black panel, back in the day some filler panels on cars were clear. Take the BERETTA for example, on the older cars (88-90 or 91) you could sand the paint off the letters which were 3-D and install a tube light behind them, simple as that.

You can just buy a decal and put over your brake light. I got one, but I am thinking about covering up the rest of brake light so only the firebird part shines through.

I was thinking something simpler than fiberoptic like a couple of bulbs behind red tinted plasic... with the word "firebird" cut out and the red plastic behind that. I know the fiberoptic would look the best but I was going toward more of the sunfire and fiero look. Maybe even those led lights like on expensive car's tail lights. Does anyone think this is possible without it looking like white trash??

hey man, if u do figure it out be sure to post. i asked the same question a couple of months back, and the fiber optics does seem like too much to make it light up (even though it did look badass). there is alot of empty space behind that firebird filler panel so if u figure something out that looks nice, post some pics
