• Putty for plastic holes???

Just removed the grill. Looks great however there a a slew of holes both where the grill attatched to and where the licence plate holder was drilled in. Anyone know how to fill these holes? I'm thinking regular putty wont work because it's plastic... Superglue..?

Thanks

Ok Lemme know if you all think this will fly.

The Plan:

Tools needed:
- Bondo Autobody Quick Fix - UV Activated
- Sandpaper - One 220 Grit, One 600 Grit
- Putty Knife or Spreader
- Tin Foil - Reynolds or something good
- Your color car spray/touchup brush paint
- Masking Tape

I suggest a thorough understanding of sanding and touch up painting your car.

Also think about the fact you wont be able to put your grill back in after this procedure

This is going to take some time to do right.

The procedure - Starting with small holes

1. Alcohol the entire grille area, preferebly after a wash.
2. Put masking tape around the holes. The holes are not beveled in any way so there is no curve to deal with.
3. Apply the Bondo Quick Fix to the holes, squeeze about 1/8th of an inch in there, make sure you have a little sticking out so its level after sanding.
4. Drive into the sun, this stuff is UV activated and should set in about 10-15 minutes even if partly cloudy.
5. Break out your low grit sandpaper and sand down, afterwards of course use the higher grit to make it paintable.
6. Paint the area, wont take much for these small holes.

That should do it for the small holes.

This is where it will get interesting...

For the big holes left by grill inserts.

1. Jump to step 3 above.
2. Apply the Bondo Quick Fix to the holes. You will probably have to layer it since uv only hardens about 1/8th of an inch. Apply/drive into sun/apply/drive into sun/apply/drive into sun. for the last layer get a good thick coat going then use your spreader to follow the lines of the curve, remember it doesnt have to be perfect, you've got sandpaper.
3. Before UV'ing this coat, if it still does not curve the way you want it, use your tin foil, place tin foil over area and use palm of your hand to shape it.
4. Jump to Step 5 above after UVing your final coat. Make sure your curve is sanded, you may have to remove the masking tape to get proper level with the rest of your paint.

Well this is a rough draft, will do the small holes tommorow and let you all know how it goes. What I'm tripping on is the center large hole, it has two curving surfaces meeting in the middle... Sorry if this is drawn out I'm not good at writing directions!
