I ordered a set of 4 point White LED's from MacEwen

They are the 194 style, so they are meant for the far corners of the taillamp assembly on the birds, as well as sidemarkers and licence light.

They do fit in the other taillamp sockets, even though they are too small but the middle two are meant for 2way bulb, brake and blinker, running light and Brake. So I didn't even attempt to install them there.

After testing them out in the taillamp assembly in the far corners as running lights, they worked, but the light was too centralized and just wasn't bright enough. Our taillamp Lenses just don't work right with LEDs. I also tried the 3rd brake light. The LEDs work just as well as stock there, but there is hardly a differnce over stock and not worth it.

I did buy them with the intention of using them in my reverse light socket. They fit with a little ajustment of the contancts on the LED.

They work great, not quite as bright as the stock bulbs, but it looks 1000X better than the yellowish light before.

After Changing the reverse lights, the license plate light looked outa place. So I went ahead and replaced that as well. The hard part about this is that you can't use the stock lens. I took the socker out of the lens and remounted it higher in the bumper, and directed it at the plate. This looks 1000X better as well. Even though in the pic, it doesn't look like it is lighted very well, the camera just didn't pic up the fanning effect of the light. It reality the whole plate is lit up.

I didn't realize how crappy and yellowish the stock clear bulbs look until I replaced them with the LEDs.

I still have 3 leds left over. I was going to make a engine bay light for my car, since my car doesn't have one, but as I started to do that, I had the idea to mount them in the nostrills of my bird. It looks freaking sweet, I just temporarily put them there tonight to get an idea, and its looks so badass. I have them just under the lip, in the gap between the bumber and the hood cross bar pointing up, The reflection down makes an awesome soft glow, the gradually dissapates in the curve of the nostrill.I am going to install the one in each nostril tomarrow night.

After that I will have one left. While working with these LED, I noticed that they project very crips shadows, therefore I had the idea to make a small pheonix cutout lense for the LED and mount it at the base of the radiator. If it goes as planned it should project a soft pheonix right infront of my car.

I am going to finish up my project tomarrow night, so then I will post pics.

Even though there was a slight snafu in the ordering process, Ryan from MacEwen upgraded my shipping and even threw in 2 addition sets of lights free. VERY GOOD customer service.

Looks good!! :D I've been playing with LED's myself! ;)

Might I suggest the White LED 3156 for the reverse lights from www.superbrightleds.com. They also have 6 LED 194 wedge style replacements (white for $2.99).

Wow, thanks for the link. I think that variety and price is gonna make my order some of those for my backup lights, because as good as they look they are not as bright as I want them to be.

i LOVE led's. you can do so much with them. i've got them wired into my speakers and plugged into my speaker grilles so they flash with the bass. looks bada$$. i got 'em in back too. now the other day i put them in my grille of my Camaro. so they face forward and look cool. i can't wait to drive around with them on. the only color i can use is white here in Minnesota. i had blue but i got a $85 ticket for those so i got smart and got white. they look better anyway white. but man your car looks nice. Sorry to resurrect a dead thread , but I wanted to put some LED lights into my reverse socket. I was going to use some straight 1156 replacements from www.superbrightleds.com

              http://www.superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html

Does anyone think these would be brighter than regular bulbs? I know the original poster said the LEDs weren't brighter in his car, but he was using 2 LEDs whereas I would be using 24
