It Sucks.. caused a lot of problems for me this week. I did everything it said except for using the clay bar because my paint is clean. As I said in the previous post, it's a show car and is garaged. Anyway, I had to wash it twice with Dawn to try and get all the polish off. I re-detailed my car and used Duragloss again. This is the polish I've been using for almost 6 years. Maybe this has something to do with the Zaino not working right, who knows... alls I know is I blew $75. The Duragloss, in my opinion is better because it's a cleaner AND a polish. And this BS about layering coat upon coat with Zaino and waiting hour upon hour... One coat of Duragloss and your done.. I better just stick with what I've been using..

Update on Zaino

Feel like sending me the remainder of the "wasted" $75 in products? ;) It's too bad you didn't have good results with the Zaino. Zaino doesn't suck, but you obviously weren't getting the results you hoped for. I assume you did the Dawn wash prior to applying Zaino as well? If you were using ZFX and Z5 correctly, the first areas of application should have been dry by the time you finished applying to the rest of the car. No real down time at all. And once done with that and a coat of Z6 you can go right back into the Z5. Just some tips if you decide to try it again.
I must applaud you for your attempt though. I don't mind when I see people choose another product after they try it, I just get annoyed with people who say don't bother simply because they "think" what they use is better. Have you ever seen another car with Zaino on it? After seeing my distributor's two Vipers, thats right, TWO VIPERS!!, I was hooked. My car doesn't look like his, but they are garage queens so that is to be expected.
Is Duragloss a wax or a synthetic like Zaino? If your paint is a clean as you say it is there should be no need for a "cleaner" of any kind. And if there is some mild scrubbing agent in it to act as a cleaner, that may be where your hairline scratches are coming from. Check out those towels too.
Good luck!!

Yep,when I first started using the stuff I spread it on until it hazed the car like normal wax (I thought I WAS spreading it thin) and it looked like crap. After a little trial and error and finally figuring out that basically one little drop on a pad was enough Z1 for about 1/2 the car I figured it out Zaino is definately not simple to put on like other waxes, but it sure laasts 10000000 X's longer.I only have to hit my car with a water-hose now and it looks freshly waxed.Zaino is cool because it lasts forever.

Yeah, I saw an older Vette at a car show that had an unbelievable finish.. the guy used Zaino. This is what convinced me to buy the product.

I believe Duragloss is also a synthetic. They also have scratch filler and other types of polishes for clear coat and such. You might be right about the hairline scratches.. I never thought of that. I really do think though, that using the same product for almost 6 years has something to do with the Zaino not working right. I did use Dawn on the car prior to application. Maybe I didn't apply thin enough.. who knows.2004 CE Corvette 10.86@132mph

I've never used Zaino. But I've spent alot of money on other stuff and I've come to conclude that 3m's scratch remover and high gloss wax is the best I've ever use. As a matter a fact, I parked the bird next to the Zaino polished vette and I see no difference in shine. I mean both of them are black.

Like I said, you were at fault, not the polish you used. If you had followed my instructions as I told you, then you wouldn't be bashing Zaino.
And for the record, it doesn't take HOURS to dry. You said that you used ZFX, which makes the time it takes to dry extremely short. By the time you work your way around the entire car, it will be dry, unless you put it on too thick, like I said not to
v6maro:
You obviously know nothing of the products you speak. Waxes are inferior simply because of the materials that are used in them, such as silicones and oils. Polishes do not contain these, which is why they are "superior".
For the record, Zaino is much faster to put on and take off.

I don't know if I love Zaino that much

Poeple are always so touchy with this subject
I really think the time issue is pretty even. The extra steps that people include as a must for the Zaino process should be done by anyone starting with a new product and looking for the best possible finish. Dawn wash, clay bar, and wash again will give you the best starting point regardless of product type. If you don't want to clay your car, you don't have to with Zaino or whatever you choose. But your results will be better if you do. If you want to skip steps and cut corners, be my guest, but you probalby don't want to spend the time or money that many car show types do detailing their car. If you want to wash your car with Palmolive and give it a good "hard" coat of Turtle Wax, GREAT!! But you really shouldn't be contributing to a post were people are looking for the best possible results.
Once the prep has been done, there is no reason Zaino will take you any longer than waxes. As I stated above, and Sandman re-iterated, when using ZFX and Z2/Z5 the first areas of application will be dry by the time you finish applying. I don't see how anyone could claim to take less time than that? Take it off, and you have a choice. You can leave the car for months before you need another coat, wash it occasionally and enjoy the long lasting shine. Or, you can apply additional coats immediately to improve upon the already impressive results. You can determine the effort you want to put in. With wax based products, there is no reason to apply a second coat, because they don't layer; you remove the old coat with the new application. And the new coat will not last you as long a Zaino will. So, actually, a wax product will require more regular maintainence than Zaino will.
As i said above, if you have used Zaino and it didn't work for you(ex: Shirl), that is too bad but I certainly cannot argue with your opinion. However, some of these statements look to have no first-hand basis what-so-ever(ex: v6maro). I could be wrong, but many doubter posts seem to be along the lines of "I think my car looks great and I don't use Zaino, so Zaino must suck!" I don't think there is a huge difference in initial shine when comparing Zaino to other products, but prep each car and then compare them two or three weeks later. Then you will start to see some of the benefits.

So, tell me, do you own stock in this company? If you say I was "bashing" the product then so beit. I'm just stating facts. It DIDN'T work on my show car. I went back to Duragloss and the car is BEAUTIFUL again. Thank you DURAGLOSS.
