I've noticed that there have been a lot of discussions on blackouts for the lights. On most of them I haven't seen anything about prices or the durability of the blackouts, and the drawbacks of having blackouts. So this is what this post is about

i'm looking for some good quality rear and front light blackouts. I've noticed on some of the posts about this subject, that the blackouts were either held on by velcro or adhesive tape. I'm wondering if there are any that snap on, or if the tape/velcro solution works very well. I'm thinking that when it gets really hot that the blackouts might slide down because of the tape glue either melting or the velcro stuff just coming off.

Prices. I saw some on a website that were around $50-60. Is this too much for blackouts? It sure seems a lot to me.

Drawbacks. Does it interfere with the light output and reduce visibility a lot?

Thanks in advance for anyone who posts a reply

I got my GTS front blackouts cheap from a user of this board's ebay auction. I drive almost two hours at night each Sunday with them, I find there is a slight deterioration in visibility but I also have the bright Xenon lights (no HID kit, just the brighter bulbs). Oh, and the GTS I have just snap on. I believe the overpriced ones they sell @ rksport will snap on too.

Don't have rears yet. However, you can search and find out that rear blackouts might not be a good idea because the law is something like NOTHING covering the brake lights.

Dang, I just realized that wasn't *much* help. Sorry!

With your year camaro, the visibility in the front shouldn't go down that much. I have a 95 so the blackouts sit away from the light a bit and really cut down on my visibility. They use the velcro things and work fine. Even in immense heat they don't come off. Only problem I had was when I put the blackout on wrong and was going 100+ mph, wind got around it and pull the blackout off. I got mine from Jegs which is the cheapest I've seen anywhere. Go look there. The blackouts look great.

only problem there is they don't have any blackouts for Camaros that have the same headlights as my year :(

the ones there do look pretty good though. I've seen a few of them on Camaros in Albuquerque.

I got mine from autozone 39.99 for fronts, 49.99 for rears.

          Pro: Looks v. cool

Con's: Illegal, dims the lights, if you get rearended with the blackouts on, its your fault.

Ive had mine on for a year, they have scratches, but you dont see them unless you take off the covers.

u guys have a website or anything that will tell me if the blackouts are illegal here in NM.

i'm thinking they're not, i've seen a few cars with them on here.

Im pretty sure they are illegal everywhere. It is not heavily enforced, however, and the only time anyone I know has had any problems is after they have been pulled over for speeding. If you are worried about the legality of them, I wouldnt recommend getting either the headlight or the tail light covers.
