  • changing seats?

i did a search and didnt find what i was looking for

i want to put the trans am seats in my car but i read that the wires dont plug up correctly to give the seat full power or that the plugs dont match or something like that.

i was wondering if someone could tell me what the deal is with the seats and how to make them functional.

can you look at the wiring harnesses? it'd be pretty easy to compare them...just pull the plug apart & see if they're the same.

on my 2002 camaro, there's only one plug for the electric seats. it's located directly under the seat. it's rectangular in shape, and has two pins in it...one positive, one negative. move your seat all the way forward & it's pretty easy to get at.

If you put T/A seats in like I did, there should be two wires coming out from under the driver's side seat (orange and black). There should be about 6 coming out from under the T/A power seats. All you have to do is connect the two orange wires together and then connect the two black wires together. That will give you power, but I don't think anything can be done about the lumbar/air system on the seat. It took longer to unbolt the seat than it did to wire it up. I'm thinking those two wires are orange and black, but I could be wrong. As far as the other wires on that plug coming from the seat, I have no idea how you could wire them all up to work, but the main two will give you a good bit of movement with the seat.

BTW, to answer your question, the plugs dont match at all and unless you can get a dealer to wire it up, you won't have the lumbar movement (sides). I'm not even sure if they could do that. I just never worried about it.

if you get the wiring harness from the donor trans am, with the 2 air lines, they "should" work fine.

The harness only needs the orange and black wired up properely, and the rest go from seat to seat.
