front plate

Is it illegal to take the license plate off the front in Texas? I want one of those covers like a lot of people have but I'm not sure if its legal or not.

i live in dallas. and ill say this much. when im rolling around town i have the plate with the bird on the front and my plates in the dash in the center. but i go to the street races i make sure before i go out there i put my liscense plates on both ends of my car. visible to all!

Well, I would say it is illegal...since a cop in Victoria gave me a ticket for not having one, $100 wasted. But, methinks that most cops won't stop you just for not having one, the cops in my old hometown never seemed to notice, and I have not had an problems with the San Antonio cops for it...yet. Whenever I go on long trips, however, I usually stick the plate on my dash...

yes its illegal to not have a lp showing in the front of the car, but i have had my lp cover on there since i got the car... i've only gotten pulled over once and thats because i was in the wrong place at the wrong time. it was new years eve night and was heading to a party, state trooper pulls me over searches me and my buddy searches the car(i asked them if they wanted me to open the trunk for them, haha) wrote me a warning and we left... if they give you **** just tell them you dont have the right tool to get it on there and you are planning to go to the dealership to get it put on...

lol, that's great. i don't have mine on either...i just took it off recently, but i'll definetely try that if i ever get pulled over. of course i have 5% tint on the back and 15% on the sides, so they can probably find SOMETHING to pull me over for. one night a cop pulls me over and almost gives me a ticket for a rear license plate LIGHT being out. i was like "laff," that guy was retarted--had so many other things to ticket me for. o well, i didn't have to pocket out any money, so it was no biggie.
