  • Would This be Considered Rice??

Hey guys, well, i feel that my rear bumper is kind of Lacking, and i want to put some kind of Decal like the Z28's and WS6's have, I wouldn't dare put a WS6 on my Bird because that is just plain retarted, but i really like the way that looks on the back of real WS6's, it adds a great touch....anyways I was thinking of maybe putting a "W68" decal, sold at www.firebatscave.com on my back, i guess its for 'High Output V6's' or so the website says, and i do have tonnes of mods done on my car....Supercharger, Headers, 3" exhaust (edelbrock), and plenty and plenty more that i will not mention......

I was thinking of maybe the "3800 V6" or "Supercharged V6" decals but they are just too plain, I like the silver and Red colors that the W68 Badge puts out.

What constitutes a W68 car, or is it just made up?

Just wondering what your opinions are. I'm not trying to be like a WS6 though, even though i have the 98+ conversion with The Hood and it looks like one, bottom line it still isn't.

    thanks for any input..

"w68" is the RPO code for the sports appearance package. try and find a decal that says "H.O. 3800" or something like that. go to a sign place and see if you can get one made or something like that.

Oh so it is a real code, that kind of sucks, and i guess my wingswest body kit isn't the 'real' sport appearance package either, that's brutal....ah what can ya do, what does the appearance package actually have, just out of curiosity...

      thanks for the reply.

yah the decal says w68 performance package, but w68 is the appearance package (ground effects).

edit: if you have ground effects then i'd just cut off the very bottom that says performance package, i think it'd be fine

I was just thinking of recommending getting a fx kit then putting on the W68. IMO there is nothing rice about it. W68 from what I know is just the ground fx and maybe exhaust tips. I know that in 98+ you couldn't get a W68 with a manual. So I see no reason for you to not put W68 badging on your car.

Thanks for the replies guys, I didn't think it would be a big deal, but i would just like to check with others to see if i was doing anything foolish. I do have the wingswest ground effects kit, and dual exhaust....so i pretty much have it all, except it didn't come from the factory.....you can check out my site at
www.geocities.com/umvagia0 (u might have to cut and paste the link) I think the badge would cool with the chameleon color.

thanks for the input guys, you made me feel a lot better.

Another thing you could do is to contact a Pontiac dealer and order some Grand-Am badges. The plastic ones, and you could get them in any color they make the cars. Get the ones that go in front of the front wheel wells, that say
3800 H.O. That would look sweet I think. Actually my SS hood should be in either tomorrow or really really soon, and Im thinking of getting the Grand-Am badges that say "Ram Air V6" in silver and putting them on my Polo Green Metalic 97 Camaro, right where the "Z28" badges usualy go.
                  Hope this helps man.

Perry: Thats very very nice. Your car deserves the W68 badging more than the W68 does, if thats at all possible. Looks real good!

Like the others have said, W68 is the Pontiac ground effects and dual exhaust (and fog lights on pre-98).

I don't think you should go with a W68 decal because what you have is not W68 (although yours looks really great). In my book saying you have something you don't is rice. You've got a very high quality, awesome looking custom addition - why would you want to pose it to be a factory thing? It only cheapens waht you've spent a considerable amount of dough attaining...

If I were in your shoes (and I wish I had your hood), I would consider the 3800 and Ram Air V6 badges.

You can always paint those badges whatever colors will work best for you.

As a note, I bought Batcave's W68 decal and have been very pleased. He does quality work. I cut off the "performance package" part at the bottom since my car is not a Y87 also (although I have most of the components of it).
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

The W68 Package is more than appearance. The brochure I have from 2000 lists, in addition to the ground effects, dual outlet exhaust, wider low profile tires, a faster steering gear, and a limited slip differential.
