fresh paint...when to wash??

ok my car was just painted last week but its already dirty..especially the drivers side since that wasnt even messed with...i just want to use something to make it look clean..any paint experts out there??? the body shop said they recommend only using water if i want to wash it...

Don't wash or wax it for awhile.
For the meantime you can spray it off and dry it, gently. Or, you can pick up a (California) Car Duster and wipe it off.

well, I had my new nose painted, and I washed it with soap and water the day I got it back. No scratches or anything. I've been washing it every week now and there are no pain problems.

i was going to spray it off tomorrow...i didnt plan on waxing it for 30 days at which time im doing the full out meguiars thing on her...

Yep, you should wait 90 days for the paint to cure before waxing. I read that in Motor Trend a while back.

hmm the guys at the body shop said to wait 30 days before waxing...i dunno...i guess ill call and talk to them...my gf called for me since its long distance..

For 30 days I didn't touch it at all. Of course it rained alot. I hope that didn't hurt anything. I went through a touchless carwash month and a half later. So far it's still good. I think once I washed it too fast and the paint cracked a year later.

Is it washing or waxing or both? I heard you're not supposed to touch it period.

I wash mine all the time, the guy said I could. He even washed it after he painted it. Waxing too early clogs the paint so it can't dry properly (big no no).

I just got my car painted a month and a half ago.
The paint shop told me that i could hand wash it
the week after it got painted. They told me not to wash it with the car wash sprayer or the pressure gun for like 4 weeks and not to wax it for that same period too. But they told me that I
could also buff it with 3M adhesive. That is what
they should do after they paint the car. In order
to take out the small rock chips on the clear coat.
