driver side t-top leak

[99 RS Camaro]

as mentioned in subject....its been raining here for the past 2 days and i just went out to my car and the drivers side seat is soaked....i noticed that it drips right where the t-top and the corner of the windshield meet...any suggestions? my window is rolled up all the way...the other side doesnt leak at all....any help is appreciated

Mine does it also, I think its just one of those things you have to get used to when you have a T-Top car. And just fyi, bring a towel if you go through a carwash =p

my t-tops never leak and it's been raining recently like there is no tomorrow. I dont know what to say. hope you get this problem fixed. It's probably because of the weatherstripping.

i did a t top conver. and by doing all the research i've learned that that is the nortious leak for fbodys. the only time mine will leak is if it's pouring out and i'm driving. she is fine sitting in the rain(not that it happens much)

if your weather striping is getting up there in age i would say just buy new and change it out.

This fix mosts... t-top leaks...


go to the corner that leaks, take the screw that holds the weatherstripping down and little clip out, pull up the weather stripping, it shoudl "stick" a little, slather a bunch of black RTV silicone sealant. put the weatherstrpping down, wipe up excess, tighten the screw back dow, and let dry.


the t-top weatherstripping channels the water from the top down to the side of the door. The sticky sealant stuff gets old, loses its quality, and allows water to slip under the clip where it is supposed to be channeled too....

also remove t top, clean channels, w strip, etc. of any tree leafs, needls, etc.

try parking uphill / or downhill (which ever is better) until fixed.

new weather stripping at gmpartsdirect.com if you need it.

what i did was this...

alright there are two screwc that hold the plastic molding (the plastic molding that runs up the sides.) to the car on the windshiled side. so sit in ur chair with the ttop off. take out the screws. now if pull it down carefully, u will see an 7-8 mm bolt. loosen this up. now the whole assembly will move. Move the bugger a little to the left. do not take it totally apart.(you might need a second hand maybe. i didnt) becuase this piece is adjustable, u tighten it back into place. this is what/where ur ttop locks into. by moving it left u make the fit of the window tighter w/ the weather strip on the ttop. ask me if u have any questions.

I had my whole weather stripping replaced on my passenger side and it still leaks. I will try the black silicone thing this year... cause i hate having towels on my seat just in case.
