What's best for scuff marks on bumper?

Tried searching, but found answers mostly related to deeper scratches and paint chips.....

Last night I didn't pull in far enough and the garage door closed on my bumper. [img]graemlins/twak.gif[/img] The scuffs are light, but they are visible and feel like rough spots on the paint. I don't think it went through the clearcoat. Should I use rubbing compound, or hand-polish it, or wet sand it? I just don't want to make this worse than it already is. Any help appreciated, thanks

Try wetting the area then apply/rub wax on it. Wetting it will loosen any dirt and wash it away so you don't scratch it further, and apply the wax with a damp sponge ans use your elbow grease. I had a scuff on my other car and it came out awesome using that method.

If that doesn't work, try different compounds starting with the lightest - paint cleaner, polish/swirl remover, light cut cleaner - until something works.

I have tries wd40 on paint scratches and it comes off. also gasoline but use it at your own descretion. And wipe it off with water and soap after it comes off.

I forgot to mention that too. WD40 works great! I've used it to rermove bugs and minor scuffs on the front bumper and it worked flawlessly. Just remember to re-wax the area afterwards. WD40 leaves a greasy residue.

before you try anything it might be as easy as picking up some 3m or meguiars swirl remover. a few hand applications of that takes care of most light scratch problems.
