  • stained my window

Ok, there's an upholstery cleaner and I sprayed it on the glass by accident and apparently it dried out and stained it. I can't remove it no matter how hard I rub or which cleaner I use. How do I repair it? Take it to autoglass place? My theory is that it damaged the interior factory tint.

I was thinking that the factory tint is within the glass and not on it. I could be wrong though. I prolly am, I never paid attention to the factory tint sicnce I had min tinted at 20%. Anyways, you might be able to use some rubbing compound, but I would try it on an old piece of glass somewhere else before trying it on your window. It does make scratches and it might haze. Somebody else might be able to help ya out, but that might work. Like I said, try it on something else first though, maybe a bottle or a neighbors window or something.

See, when I put a fingernail onto the surface and rub where stains are, I feel resistance on the edges of the stains... it's like it ate out a little of the glass or coating on the inside, if there is any... I had same **** get onto the plastic panels. Armor all cleaner got it out, but window cleaner didn't... I've tried armor all on the window in a small spot (it's a plastic cleaner), it didn't work on the window. I think I'm gonna have to go to automotive glass place and see what they say. It's not that bad and invisible at night, only visible in sunlight, but it pisses me off.

i think it ate through your tint, your probrably going to have to get the tint replaced.

I have factory tint on my car and it looks like the entire glass (all the way through) is tinted. It's nothing like the aftermarket stick on stuff.

Try using some really fine steel wool. I know it sounds crazy but steel wool will not scratch your glass. I worked in the detail department for a BMW dealership years ago and we used steel wool all the time. Stuff works awesome in getting out tough water spots. Another thing you could try is using a razor blade (use a brand new one). Soak the glass with some Windex and glide the blade (tilt blade at an angle) on the glass back and forth. The razor blade method works great in removing old stickers or that yellowish smoke residue on the inside of glass from those chain smokers lol Again, this won't scratch your glass. If you do in fact have factory tint then you'll be okay. However, if you have aftermarket tint.....then do not use steel wool and razor blades.
