When I go in for my tire rotation do they have to take the rubber off the rim? do the front rims always stay in front? Thanks Kevin

No, you should not take the rubber off the rim of the tire.
There are two ways to rotate tires, one for Direcational tires (can only face one way), and one for Non-Directional tires (can face either way).
D = Driver's Side, P = Passenger Side
If Directional
D Front goes to D Rear
D Rear goes to D Front
P Front goes to P Rear
P Rear goes to P Front
If Non Directional & RWD
D Front goes to P Rear
D Rear goes to D Front
P Front goes to D Rear
P Rear goes to P Front
If Non Directions & FWD
D Front goes to D Rear
D Rear goes to P Front
P Front goes to P Rear
P Rear goes to D Front
