  • Zaino....whats the big deal???

well I heard all these great stories about zaino so I figured I'd pick some up...30$ later its sittin on my step...followed thier instructions...stripped all the wax, used the "lok" crap then used the polish....after all that work I've gotten much better results with liquid glass, which you can actually see when you apply it, and comes off easier...did I do something wrong?? sure my car shines but liquid glass and 3M wax does a much better job....you guys that use zaino...have you tried anything else...???

i used Gold Class before Zaino, Gold Class definately shines just as good as Zaino, but the durability is crap compared to Zaino, two coats of Z5 lasted me 6-7 months before the water stopped beading where with Gold Class it lasted about a month...the shine will stay way longer also...

DO A SEARCH...by the way, i love my zaino. Get the kit with the claybar, you wont go back. Pretty cheap too and last a long time.

I zainoed my car on valentiens weekend, then 1.5 months later, with no washes, anything, went out did a 20-30 minute wash and dry.

        Pics from valentine's day...

        http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...05_12_full.jpg

1.5 months later, used no other chemicals then jsut wash and towels to dry(no rim cleaner either I zainoed my rims brake dust from 2 autocrosses, and 4,000 miles came right off with soap and water)

This pic is a week after I washed and dryed my car, was covered in pollen again(big probem here) I hosed, yes hosed the car off no soap, no towels, no physical touch of the car and drove off for a "air drying"

        Then took this pic

I have 3-4 freinds at a car meet looking to convert to zaino... I have one friend that has noticed better shine with wolfgang and poorboy products but an only slightly better shine. But his car is garage kept and weekend driven, alot of people notice no difference.

My car is actually 2-3 times smoother then any of my windows are with a zaino on it.

What did you do with Zaino, $30 is cheap by zaino standards...

Starter kit is $85, I have Z5, Z6, and Z2 on my car, I wash with Z7, and claybared my car in January.

Did you jsut put the polish lok, and a coat of Z2 on it? Z5 is where the shine and good stuff.

I also follow www.installuniverisity.com instructions for zaino as well...

Odd as it may seem, I have never used Zaino (Gasp! )

            Why not?

Well, I have had my car side by side with other cars treated with Zaino, and while the shine is just as good I can not really say that it is any better. I have always used a combination of nufinish liquid polish and Meguiars Gold Class wax and the shine and protection is excellent. It has kept the 8 year old paint looking wonderful.

I believe the only thing that separates the zaino from other products is how long it lasts, and when you wax your car as much as I do (at least once a week), I can see no need for it.

Holy shnikies, that is a ton of wax. If applied properly Zaino has a kick @ss shine. Nothing that Mequires or anything could not match if also applied correctly.

I just used that new one the NXL(?) Purple bottle and DAAAAAMN. For the $15 I will never look at Zaino again.

What kind of shape was your paint in before applying Zaino? Any heavy swirls or scratches? Properly prepping the surface makes a huge difference with any wax/sealant. Can you describe what you mean by "much better job"? Different products tend to have their own characteristics/look.

I would say you probably put it on in to thick on the first coat.

It works best for me, when I do 3 or 4 very thin coats.

I like it, because it shines up reall easy later down the line. The paint feels softer and smoother to the touch.

yOu guys are also missing a point....

Zaino's finish looks better with each additional coat...

to make a car look good with zaino you aim for numerous thin layers. Peaople talk about how it improves each and every time you add a coat.

Not the best example but i took these pics last night... Thse are not the best pics because I was palying with shutter speeds in near pitch black.

I zainoed my car valentines weekend, washed it 2 weeks ago, and hosed it down(no soap or dryineg) for the third time this night.

As for me... I thought zaino might have been a hype but I really wanted something with durability since my car is an outside car and I want it to look good so I get a good resale out of it. I will have a garage in December, and I will still use zaino, ideally I have plans to put 3 coats a week.

No lie the stuff gets bette and better looking with each layer.

                          Zaino 1
                          Zaino 2
                          Zaino 3

Look what Zaino did to this old oxidized pickup!!! Not to say no other product could have done the same, but Zaino is definitely a great product! Little expensive, but well worth it!

As for zaino on white cars from what I hear its not ideal on white cars... I put it on my rims, which are painted silver I was not blown away like I was with my car but still a noticeable shine.

either way here are some white zaino pics.
Here's shiny white. My mom's 1995 Toyota 4-Runner, original paint, daily driven, and she works next door to a freight yard, so it's nearly impossible to keep a car clean.

Safe to say Zaino does a respectable job on 9 year old white.

This is what my 97 Z looked like with Zaino. Pretty darn good if you ask me.

but here is a thread on white cars and Zaino.

Also here is a link to a test comparing waxes... Side by side on the same piece of car.

                              http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums...4649930-1.html

Whats funny, is Zaino nearly won all categories. AND THEY ONLY USED ONE PRODUCT! They did not even use it correctly, you are supposed to top off with Z2, they didn't use Z6 gloss enhancer, all they used was Z5, which is best used on dark colors.

Also notice the that in the durability test... in their rating system. ONE coat of Zaino(though SHOULD be used in several coats, using different products) nearly doubled the next leading competitor's score.

also included in this test were opinons of neighbors who are not car people.
