On the recommendation of Dominic (thanks!) I used a 3m product to get a rough spot out of my paint.

Used something called finish restorer. Is a very light polish, and with a good bit of elbow grease, took the spot right out. Has a blue C4 'vette on the front of the bottle.

It did take several buffs (about 6), but it was a small mark and the stuff drys rather fast, so maybe 15 minutes to do the spot. The area is now smooth as glass and quite reflective.

Definitely good stuff. Am very impressed.
