  • Help ASAP. Took bra off and now the hood is yellow

I took my bra off to wash my car. And where I took the bra off it is discolored. A yellowish brown. Even some yellow spots that looks like crayon. Is there any thing I can do to get rid of it. It is only on the lower hood, the grill area is fine please help.

If you've had the bra on for a long long time it could be that the paint is oxidized. Not sure why its turning yellow, perhaps its mold from trapped moisture.

Probably just needs to be buffed out. do you have an electric buffer? If not you can still do it by hand with some polish that's safe for clear coats. (don't want to use a heavy grit polish or you'll rub right through the clear coat.)

    any pics?

The bra has been on for at least a year. Since I have had it, but dont know how long it was on before I got my car. i just hope that somehow it can come out. I really dont want to have to paint it. No pics. I dont have a electric buffer. What polish would you recomend?

this may seem a little too harsh but a friend of mine had the same problem, he put some clorox like a 4 clorox 6 water in a spray bottle and he sprayed it , and the yellow came off.

and if all else fails, you can paint the car yellowish brown.

Or buy a big big bra and put qrap your car up!... in all honesty, I'm sure you can buff it out. The yellow wouldn't go through the clear coat, I don't think. Good luck man!

Yah, thanx for the sugestions. I will try buffing it out tommorow. the only reason the bra is coming off is because I am putting stripes on it. the clorox solution trick might help if the buffing fails. Thanx for the tips.

I will never install a bra on my car! I had one on my 86 T/A once, and it rubbed the paint off in certain sections within 1 year, and I had to get it repainted. Learned my lesson then, and I will not consider one ever again.
Good luck getting the yellow out. I hope everything comes out clean for you.

I got some Meguires Color X, hopefully this works. It says it helps restore all types of colors, removes blemishes, oxidization, and scratches, so hopefully this will work. If it would have been up to me I would not have kept the bra on, parents wouldn't let me take it off when I first got it. But i think it will work out.

Other than one-time uses like a long road trip, I don't see any good coming from those car bras.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
