• Going to clean engine area out with steam cleaner, any suggestions.

Yeah, I bought me a steam cleaner today. I'm going to clean the engine area out and also if I have time, some areas under the car. Anyone ever done this or have any suggestions. Should I have the motor running like one would with spraying the engine area out, or just leave the engine off? I'm thinking it would be ok just to leave the engine off since the steam cleaner doesn't leave to much water. Welp, just let me know any suggestions. Thanks for any help given. I don't have a staem cleaner, but when I clean my engine, I do it when it's cold. Alot of people here will say they prefer a hot engine, so I cannot give any opinions there.
I'll park my car so it sits overnight, then spray castrol superclean degreaser all over it and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Then I use a garden hose to get rid of the excess. Works like a charm!

Hey SSwannabe, I saw your pics, nice car man. Question for you, where did you get that plate or cover for your battery, it's sweet.

only thing id suggest is to stay away from spraying the coil packs and that area too much. im pretty sure the misfire i had was from water between the coil packs when i washed my engine one time.

Hey thanks for the replies. Keep them coming. I steam cleaned around the engine area today. Like the top of the hood and the metal areas around the engine. I didn't steam the engine since I would be really hard to get into a lot of the spaces. I'm thinking about just using some engine degreaser and spraying the engine off. Any info on that would be helpful also. As for the steam clean. It did great. It cute through a lot of the grim. then I just used a cloth to clean it up.

Thanks for the help everyone. Please keep the suggestions coming.
