I thought that they only made the RS from 96-97. After that they only had the RS package as an option but without the badges.

I think you misread me. I was saying that he owns a base Camaro, not a Camaro RS. I'm also aware of what car I own, but thank you for reminding me.

if you want the badges on a car that isnt really an rs that would be fine with about 99 percent of the population. your car would look better with them, they would seem to fit and most people wouldnt know the difference. most fbody guys would probably think they looked good but theyd probably give you a little flack about it being a fake RS. then you'd have the diehards who would despise you for it. its your call. if you want them, get them.

That's Stedelbauer for you
96 and 97 were GM options. 02 was an SLP option.
I'd look at it this way... you say you just want the sides of the car to look better? Why don't you have a decal of your initials put on there? ;)
The arguement about putting z28 or ss instead of rs is silly. The car is no more an RS than it is the other 2. And before you all jump on me by saying z28's and ss cars were never v6 and rs is.. think of it this way. If your name is john and i call you jerk-spice, are you gonna be happy? ;)

Just to clearify, the original RS was a V8. The 4th gen camaro was only offered as an RS by GM in 96-97 and consisted of the options below. Which, correct me if I'm wrong, but dmillers car has all of the RS options. The only difference is some GM employee didn't stick the badges on his. The RS camaro will never be a collectors car, and has no performance mods, except for the 02' which was given aftermarket exhaust by SLP.
I'm not trying to disrespect anyone here, but it really doesm't matter if he puts RS badges on his car b/c it's exactly that, HIS CAR! Plus, no one will ever give him crap for doing it.
And casanova, I was just given you a hard time, but he and I do not own base Camaros, at least no more then you do.

The RS did not return until 1996. You're wrong.
He doesn't have an RS, so he doesn't have the exhaust.
I don't think you quite understand what I'm trying to say. We own Base (V6) Camaro's. NOT any "upgraded" ones, i.e. RS, Z28, SS. I'm not sure why exactly you keep trying to make a point, because there isn't one to make.1997 Grand Prix GTP

Casa, what i am saying is that he does have a factory RS camaro. The 02' RS had nothing to do with GM, is was done by SLP.2000 Sebring Silver Z28 M6
Jet-hot lt\'s,!cats, Hooker aerochamber,slp cai,mti lid, slp ss hood-spoiler-cme,eibach springs,bmr control arms & relo. brackets,bmr adj. phb,slp sfc\'s & stb,b&m ripper,Z06 wheels, Nitto 555\'s, and much more

DMiller basically has an RS. When Chevy updated the front end for 98, they simply stopped putting RS badges on the car and called it Sports Appearance Package. When I first got my car everyone always states that I got an RS, because the RS is basically the GFX package.
So put RS on the fender if you like...no one will question u except peeps who really know Camaros. And all you have to answer is that it looks plain on the fender, so u decided to put that there because it basically is an RS, except they stopped badging it as RS when they updated the front end.1999 Pewter Camaro M5
Y87 Performance Package, Sport Appearance Package, Diamond Clears
Factory SS Hood, Free Ram Air Mod, Whisper Lid w/ K&N Air Filter
CarSound Cat 94009, B&B Tri-Flo w/ Quad Tips
BMR SFC, BMR STB, KVR Blank Rotors, Hawk HPS Pads
Black Painted Calipers w/ CAMARO Decal, 245/50 Dunlop SP Sport 5000
20% Rear 35% Side Tint, Red Reflective Inlays, Invincishield
Young girls avert their eyes, weak men tremble, Ford dealers faint.

i was gonna stay outta this one but i'm just sick of people ragging on people who put them on their car. it may not be a real RS who the hell cares. you may not like it but if they do then more power to them. they are on mine. my car was an SLP car. it came with stripes but i took them off because of scratches and also the front grille because it was cracked and i couldn't afford to buy a new one. and i hated the exhaust on it. it was too raspy sounding. i think it was a Z28 muffler from SLP with the mail slot tips. i put new stripes on it from RKSport cause i couldn't buy them from SLP. and when i bought it the rims were stolen from it. you couldn't tell it was a SLP Camaro until i ran the VIN through slp and they told me what it should have had on it. my car already had RS badges on it as did my dad's SLP Camaro RS. Both had NO GFX. ALSO before people point this out to me the car was SPECIAL ordered to be done with the SLP mods on my SILVER car. those that know SLP know that they only origanally did the upgrades on black and red Camaro's. so if he wants to put the badges on it then i'd say go for it. i love the way they look. and it's not comparable to putting on z28/SS badges. that has a different motor and a whole bunch other stuff different. oh and the RS's put out by SLP weren't even Y87 Camaro's either. both mine and my dad's don't have posi.just my 10 cents worth. I don't understand some of the people that say it wouldnt be a "Real RS" when my car came with everything that a "Real RS" came with besides the RS badges which they didn't put on.. But ok if some of you are going to say that, I got something..
Say hey you wanted to go get the 35th Anni stripes or maybe an SLP grill thats not good because your not a "Real SS" or a "Real SLP Camaro" Its all the same difference.. Or maybe some of the people with Firebirds that add a Ram Air Hood and the other Trans Am specs but thats ok for them?? I just don't understand why some of you would tell me not to do it when then you turn around and praise someone elses car thats doing basicly the same thing.....
I thank all of you that think I should go for it and that have some pretty good reason for it..Derek
2002 Metallic Silver Camaro
35th Anniversary
