taking off windshielf wiper holders

the thing that the wipers sit in, how do you take them off. the metal part, not the plastic part. mine are losing their paint and need a repaint. any help would be awesome. thx.

If you mean the wiper arm, it requires a special dealer tool to properly remove them. I borrowed one from my local NAPA store, they borrowed it from the local GM dealer. I tried other methods but it wouldn't come off.
