• Blacklight Neons :P

I have them in the car... just need to wire the switch. Can anyone help me? I tried electronics but its dead and I want to do this tonight.

I want to put the switch between the shifter and the cup holder (97 console). Where is the closest power source to that and can u be specific as to what I am looking for.

    Thanks

From my experience, all switches need to be wired to the battery........

the only advice i have is do't let the wires show and also put an inline fuse between the device and the battery. this will save u atleast hundreds if somehting shorts out. it happened to a friend of mine blew his whole computer next tiem he will listen to me i guess.

Here are some diagrams that were made by a guy I sorta know named Carl. They're pretty good, but the only thing that helped me out was finding a guy that knew what he was doing, and having him help me.

          Good luck.

You can get 12 volts from the cigarette lighter. just take off the panel and cut into the wires that goes to the cigarette lighter. Black is gnd.

or instead of cutting, simply splice into it. Wire taps are cheap.

If you splice into the cig. lighter wire, make sure you watch out about overloading the fuse. Since the cigarette lighter and the horn are on the same fuse, I blew a fuse out by having a cell phone charger plugged in and using my horn at the same time.

Per my post in Electronics, I recommend wiring it to the junction block on the passenger side fender under the hood. Put a circuit protection fuse 6" or less from the source in the new wire, and fuse it for the wire, so if it's 10 guague, put a 30 amp fuse, regardless of what the neons draw. You can fuse smaller at the point the neons come in. Then if it's a really high current draw, you will want to use a relay to switch them on and off.... if it's a lower current draw then you can get away with an inline switch.

What is the current rating for those neons, do you know? If you don't can you find out what size fuse they come with???

                  Thanks!
