• Who wants new fiberglass products (interior, hood, effects, etc)?

    New fiberglass products

Replace all interior plastic w/ fiberglass. Dash, sail panels, doors, everything. Would be a pure appearance mod, it would not save much in wieght. The fiberglass would be sturdier though, and allow the use of glossy paint, clearcoats, etc. If I made a kit, there would also be a little custom styling of my own to add a little flare . Smoother lines, etc. Cost would depend on how far you went, but it is possible to replace all plastic & carpet w/ fiberglass (which I will likely do to my car, except for carpet for the front seats).

Fiberglass can be painted w/ car quality paints, chromed, whatever you want.

New locations for guages, give me some ideas on where you would like them. They could be put anywhere, recessed in the dash, on the t-top, etc.

Fiberglass speaker enclosures are also another thought.

Hoods and ground effects are definite future products.

Why am I asking? I am going to learn to fiberglass because I don't like the interior of these cars (generic styling is ok, but I don't like the materials used), and I don't like my choices of ground effects. I could live with my choices of hoods, but while I'm at it, why not make a custom one of those too? But the initial cost of equipment, though not terrible, makes me want to get an idea of how much interest there is in these kinds of things before I go and buy the equipment.

If you have an idea for anything custom, hoods, etc, post here and I will consider that interest in me getting started on this.

Have you done any fiberglass work before? The stuff you have listed is pretty ambitious for someone with no experience with 'glassing? I have only used it a couple of times, and it is time consuming to get the finish which is necessary to use the gloss paints you speak of; not to mention the proper shape and look. It sounds like a very cool project though, good luck

I know, its going to be extremely time consuming, but I'm a pretty determined guy once I dive in

I'd like to see someone make a set of 1 or 2 inch wider rear fenders w/ an air scoop in each. Wider to put in wider wheels and tires w/o any rubbing and an air scoop just looks cool. Maybe a new rear wing style would be cool for the firebirds/trans am's.

Me too. How much would you charge for a hood?

I likely would not make an *exact* replica of the mecham hood, I'm sure there would be some legal issues there if I sold them.

But I most certainly would come up w/ something cool.

Price would vary depending on materials used & price of hood. To be honest, I couldn't tell you with any certainty right now how much it would cost...

if you were to come up with a new spoiler for the firebird (not the transam different spoilers all together) then i would hold some interest and i agree about the choice of ground affects i like my gm ones but the airdam is kind of un exciting if you catch me.

Right.. you wouldn't be able to make an exact copy. just make the nostrils bigger ;) Let us know if you come up with any pricing.

I have heard that this has been done before, and I know if you could do it most people would have a great intrest

                    At least me anyway

A set of covers that goes in the metal exposed area when you take the t-tops out of your car. It is the area where the rubber seals are.

I think that it can be made pretty easy by someone who knows how to work with glass-unlike myself

Let me know if you can do it

Alrighty guys, looks like there is plenty of interest for me to make the initial investment.

Hopefully I can dive right in and begin learning how to work with this stuff better. Its going to take a good amount of experience to get a lot of this stuff done.

Wish me luck, and if you have any ideas on something you would like, e-mail it to me at th240265@pegasus.cc.ucf.edu and I will put it in the long list of to do's

I SECOND THAT!! Custom hoods and spoilers...thats a great idea, but we already have a good amount of those. How about some different body parts? Like, slots in the quarter panels (similar to the callaway body kit), or here's an easier one... a new taillight design !!! Take that one piece out and make a new one that fits the vette lenses! :D

I'd be all over that one!

if you were to combine the Raptor hood nostrils and the Mecham hood heat extractors, but were to move the heat extractors back a efw inches, that would work good and alleviate any legal issues. I've seem commando rear wings on camaros and really like them. if you could take a stock firebird/formula rear decklid and incorporate a commando wing on top of it and had it all line up right and flow w/ the bodylines, that would be cool.
