be careful what kind of polish you use to get the stuff off. a lot of wheel polishes are abrasive, and some wheels like ours come clear-coated (like mine ). All I have to say is avoid abrasive polishes...

Hey man, that happened to me.. and I took my car to an auto detailer and had them buff the rims. After it was done, I couldn't believe it.. I thought that I had chrome rims.. Give that a try.. it should bring the shine out..
I called a place that does polishing and they want to charge me about 100 bucks a wheel to refinish/polish..does that sound too pricey? I didnt know that buffing could fix it..ill make a few calls tomorrow. The car wash is gonna pay half of whatever the bill is..man i have the worst frikkin luck with this car..you guys DONT even know what its gone through. Im leaving May 28 for boot camp for the air force and who knows what else crappy is gonna happen while my brother/mom use my car as a daily driver =( ...i might just auction it off, get a Silverado and Lift it like crazy when im outta tech school.. ok ima stop *****in' now..thankks for all your help guys..i feel a lot better knowing that it can be fixed!

HALF? no way dude. If you told them specifically not to use it and they did, they need to pay all. I would go up there freaking steaming mad and demand them pay ALL. They screwed up your ride...even after you warned them. They said half so they could compensate you for some and see if you would take it. I would go back there and make them pay all, and if they don't, I would threaten to take them to court.
I hate companies that try and screw people over after they are the ones who messed up!
A similar thing happened to me last week, but it's my fault, I put this wheel cleaner stuff on my stock rims and most of the brake dust is like stuck on my rim and won't come off now!
they won't lose anything, car washes are insured for stuff like that. tell them you'll take them to small claims court and if that doesn't work, then file a claim against them.
i was at a car wash once getting the cars washed at work and some guy was commenting to me about the 2001 toyota land cruiser he'd just bought. a few moments later the towel boy came in and asked if we'd come out and take a look. the towel boy drove the land cruiser into a pole folding the front bumper around almost enough to where it touched on the other side. that guy cried. you think they're gonna pay half of that?
i've seen the way they treat cars. i NEVER take my car to a car wash like that; and i never will.
The problem here s that your wheels WERE clearcoated and the car wash used a chemical that removed your clearcoat in some spots. The brake dust melted into the remaining clearcoat. It happens all the time. There's probably a big sign up at that car wash that states NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHEEL DAMAGE or something to that effect. Even so, the car wash will pay for any damage they cause. Most car washes out by me have switched to dishsoap and water with a soft brush instead of wheel cleaner. It's not as effective, but it's safe.
