  • Finished painting airbox (fixed stupid links)

Well, I got another can of paint and painted the "3.8L V6" on my airbox lid. I'm only about 50% happy with the result though :/

I had a pain in the *** time getting the stencil I made to be perfectly flat and against the surface of the airbox, which resulted in a little bit of paint getting underneath the stencil, therefore making the letters/numbers have a kinda fuzzy edge. I also oversprayed some blue paint onto the black off the stencil, so i masked part of the area to spray a bit of black over the excess blue, and it ended up creating some small lines that you can see if you look close at the pic.

Oh well, I'm just gonna leave it for now, I don't feel like repainting the damn thing yet.

http://camarov6.netfirms.com .... very bottom pic on the page

EDIT: Damn I'm dumb, first I forget to upload the new index.htm, then I forget to upload the freakin pictures, lol. It works now!

IMHO, the best option is to design a decal in Adobe Illustrator using any fonts you wish, then taking them down to your local print shop. (SignsNow is a good one)

That's what I did, took all of 30 minutes & $7 to go down there and have it plotted out in vinyl and 5 minutes for me to install it. Making sure it's straight takes awhile! ;)

            Here's my WhisperLid...

Cause I was planning on putting my K&N sticker that I still have laying around on the other side.

Doesn't matter anyways, whenever I get around to repainting it, I'm just gonna paint it solid black, then take Jason's suggestion and make a decal in Photoshop and get it made into vinyl.

I had painted my whisper lid a few weeks because the decals I bought just would'nt stick despite all the cleaning/prepping in the world :(

Here's what I did... First off I took a digital shot of the Formula badges on my door and the bird on the front plate cover. Then in photoshop I cropped them and sized them to the exact dimensions I wanted and printed it out. I bought some blank stencils at the craft store, traced the printed up lettering/bird and cut the stencil out with an exacto. To make the stencil stick and not bleed I sprayed a little photo adhesive that comes in the can on the back of the stencil. This held it down pretty good and didnt affect the lid area. I put about 4 light coats of spray paint on :D
