any body out there with 17 inch rims and have a 245/35/17 series tire on their rims, or any 35 series tire?? If so, when going around corners really fast, does your rim actually touch the ground at all??

the sidewall height is determinant on the tire width. a 275-40 tire will have 11 cm. of sidewall, a 235-55 tire will have 12.925 cm. of sidewall, and a 275-35 tire will have 9.625 cm. of sidewall. to find out sidewall, take tire width, and multiply it by the sidewall #/100. so, your 275-35 sidewall formula will look like this: 275(mm.)x (35 mm./ 100 mm.)=96.25 mm.=9.625 cm. I suggest not hitting too many potholes or sppedbumps too fast, unless you want the rims bent. less sidewall=better lateral grip, better appearance, less ride quality, possible lowered stance of car(depending on rim size).2001 Arctic White Firebird
T-Tops, 3.42 rear gear stock
Mods:K&N Air Filter,Whisper Air Induction Lid, maf screen removed, raised air box, Kumho Ecsta 712 255-50-ZR16 tires, BMR stb
Mods not installed yet: FTRA, SLP Lsd/Differential cover
Near Future Mods: HPP3, GMMG 3\" Exhaust , 1LE Swaybars, Transgo Shift Kit, MSD-DIS-4 w/ Accel Coil-Packs, Turquoise Blue Neon Underbody Kit, BMR Adj. that is one hell of a sidewall man, 11cm, that kinda tire wouldnt even fit in the wheel well, you mean the width of the tire would be 11 cm!!
DID you read my question? what you said has nothing really to do with my question. ;)99 Firebird Vert, Pewter Metalic
Fast Toys Ram Air
Jet Stage 2 Chip
17x8 Mille Miglia Emotion II Plus\'
wrapped in 245/35/17 Yokohama A520
Rhino Perf. SIDEWALL = Space between the top of the wheel, to the tread...hence the name SIDE WALL. I think there are some confused people on this thread. its pretty funny that the self explanatory (sidewall) could get confused with tire width.1993 3.4
Borla rear section
3 inch Catco High Flow Cat
2.75 inch I pipe (Picked one up from an LT-1 guy for a whole $10)
K&N Fipk
180° T-stat
Jet Stage II
10 Spoke Z28 Wheels
NGK\'s, Taylor Spiros
Mobil 1 synthetic
Email Viper2@chesnet.net for 4th gen replacement parts.

11 cm = 4.3 inches
to find inches devide CM by 2.54
If your rims are touching the ground in corners, there's a huge safety issue. I would even venture to say that you would get tire/rim separation before that would happen.
At any rate, my buddy had a blazer with some rediculous PIMPIN' wheels... 20's or something. The tire looked like a rubberband with tread. Besides the bone-jarring ride, there weren't any rim grinding problems.
Hope it helped.
