I removed mine a few weeks ago and there are a few little metal spots exposed it doesn't look too bad the part where the carpet is split where the seats actually attached to the floor is raised up metal about 8 inches I guess I'm just gonna get some type of cover or something made at a local shop I'll take pics when i can!

What back seat??? You mean they put a back seat in our cars???? Well hell, I never knew that :D

Took mine out almost 3 years ago... they sit comfortably in the garage getting some dust.

Why would you want to take out your backseat. I dont see any benefit except for looking stupid. Your backseat really dont weight that much so weight reduction isnt that signifigant.

Well I have the seat down at all times, I hate hauling people around, it stops my front seats from reclining all the way, and I'd like to put in a system and a NOS eventually but would like to keep the amount of storage space. So what do you do? Take out the back seat!! :D

And if the system never comes and the NOS doesn't happen... I have room for a blow up matress :D ;)

Removing the upper and lower back seat does remove some weight, believe it or not. If you weigh them, it's about 10-12 lbs. I think. When racing, every ounce helps. I just don't think that GM needed to put seats back there. They are only good for VERY small people or kids. Neither of which, I know. So.... :yank: there gone.

Yeah, thier useless as far as passanger's go, but their good for holding extra stuff in your car, i mean those bucket seats really do well holding lose objects in place like books and stuff. If I could find somethign usefull for my backseat space removeds, I'd remove move mine. Anyone know of a place that might make somekind of custom stereo box for that place? I bet you can get two 15s in thier with space left over and still make it look good.

there is just one bolt per seat that holds them in. i forget the socket size, but it will take about 5 mins to take them out. do it and see if you like it. i move mine in and out all the time. the bolt is in the middle of the front of the bottom of the seat. (sorry, i don't even understand that last sentence.)

Without the back seat in there, there is actually room to sit. What sucked was finding the right star socket for the seat belts. No parts store stocks more then 2 sizes of star sockets here.

no crap! i told (and showed) my passengers how comfortable it is even without the seats in there. luckily with the new tool set i got it came with a whole set of "torx" bits so i found the right size pretty quick, but dayuuuum those screws are in there tight. i just recently put my backseats back in for summer since i won't be doing any racing. i will admit they're not something you want to take in and out on a regular basis

The upper half is 16 pounds. Each bucket is 2 pounds. So 20 pounds total! BTW, the passenger seat alone is 32 pounds! Thats a good 50 pound reduction for racing.

                          I weighed mine a while back. :D

The reason GM puts the backseats in is for insurance. A car that carries 4 people whether or not it's a 4 door is still cheaper than a plain "two-seater".

Now, I did have a friend of mine pull his backseat. We tore it out and built a little fiberglass storage unit in it's spot. He can keep tools and such all locked away in little bins back there now. Looks really smooth. I'll see about getting some pictures for 'ya.

i think it looks ghetto when people take out their seats. Looks like some ricer ruining his car to lose 10 pounds. Just drop the seat down it looks a million times better
