New radiator cover and polishing under the hood (pics)
I picked up and installed a new MBA radiator cover over break. I decided that there needed to be a few more polished items under the hood to I hit everything I could with some sandpaper and meguiars to bring out the shine:

I also finally got around to installing my aluminum driveshaft. I posliehd it also before putting it in :D

everything including the brake lines were polished using 320 then 500 then 1500 then 2000 grit sandpaper followed up with some mothers aluminum polish. no dremel was used on anything except for the alternator.
the radiator cover came prepolished, but i hit it once with the mother's polish to shine it up a bit more.

no, not really. i didnt really have a chance do drive it hard yet though, since it was raining all day saturday and i didnt drive it sunday.
It sure looks a lot nicer than the old, ugly 2 piece though [img]graemlins/rock.gif[/img] :D
might just be my imagination, but I thought that there was a slight increase in response from hitting the gas till feeling it in the @ss with the lighter aluminum driveshaft. Thats it though.

Nice work on the polishing. I did use to strong of a grit sand paper, since I had diffent types of rouge and i didn't know how thick the break lines were either. Really excellent job. Just as a suggestion, you might wanna try some engine cleaner,(or it might be the pics), but be careful bc it will strip the wax from the poshish sometimes, if you do.

thanks, and yeah. hopefully its just the pics. i used gunk engine degreaser and a power washer to try to get most of everything off the engine. which parts look drity to you? on top of the intake there are a few stains that wont come out for anything, but besides that I thought I got most of it. the front where the latchc comes down, the paint is scraped away but i always go over that with touch up when i open it at a show. besides a couple of rusty bolts i thought i got the most of it.
Sorry if Im a clean freak. I try.lol Like the battery has some dust. Around the stb and the hinges. As far the intake (the one the says 3800 series) try usiing a wire brush it will shine it up really well. And at the same time you can polish the letter too.
how much did you pay for the radiator shroud? I know a guy who has a machine that bends that type of metal, i can have him make me one like for $5.00 cost of material but he says he needs to have to copy from.

hehe, yeah. i have an excuse though [img]tongue.gif[/img] the battery is going out and we took it to autozone after installing the driveshaft to get it tested. i had dust all over my hands from polishing the driveshaft :rolleyes: :D
no excuse for the bolts on the stb. I am shamed. Ill have to repaint them [img]redface.gif[/img] [img]tongue.gif[/img]
I like the wire brush idea on the intake. ill polish up those letters too!

I think its a worthwhile investment.
I got it off ebay for 53 bucks plus shipping. MBA sells them for about 119 plus ship i think. If you could get one that looked just as good that would be awesome. I say go for it.
