the only part of my car thats really scratched and beat up is the underside. have a few spots where the paint is bubbling and starting to rust. Since I dont want that rust spreading or eating through, I was thinking about grinding to bare metal and then coating the underside with that black spray rubber grip stuff. jack the car up, take my time going over just the metal body panels and break lines and such.... so its kinda like the coating under the fenderwells. I will avoid the engine/ tranny (they will be dropped at some point and painted red) and I have an aluminum driveshaft that I will take off and polish. Exhaust will be stainless all the way back. I guess I should also tape off all the nuts and bolts and connections. How retarded does the idea sound?

Go ahead, but that stuff stinks. I'm not sure which area you are talkin about, but you can spray black paint as well. Or you can just put some silicone on those spots.
