When my wife and I got married, I had just bought a brand new Cutlass Supreme Brougham (1980) This thing set me back....had the performance 350 package... the whole shootin match. The dealer was an old New Orleans Saints QB that I did a lot of radio commentary with back then so he gave me the deal of a lifetime. Another name for groomsmen....is Bone-head. Did I mention this car was jet black? They pulled the white shoepolish thing on me and despite my efforts at the carwash on my wedding night...not to mention my wife's sense of humor, or lack thereof....I had a milky haze on some parts of the car till I sold her five years later.
Moral of the story.....Get the Clay Bar.

If you remove the taillights and headlight housings, could you get to the blemishes? Just to clarify, isopropyl alcohol is just rubbing alcohol (albeit at 70%), it will NOT melt plastic! Good for pre-cleaning to remove oils before painting. Also isopropyl alcohol is very water souble. laquer thinner works good on shoe polish, but you'll need to rewax afterward...
