• these good taillight covers?

they are AVS smoke taillight covers...

these are translucent right?

asking cause it does say "For off-road and show use only. Check your local laws for any legal restrictions."

i'm almost positive that taillight covers are legal in Illinois.. but only if they arent completely opaque..

some light has to shine through i mean.. and i'm not sure if these do or not

Yes, some light travels through them, but it's mostly noticable at night only. Daytime, fughetaboutit. I'm not totally sure, but I think they are illegal in all 50 states.
If you have them installed on a nice sunny day, don't make any quick stops! You'll have a new guest in your back seat.
Carbon fiber covers let a little more light pass through than blackout's, but not much more.

the only thing I don't like abut the balckouts is that I'v heard too many horror stories about this being stolen off other peoples cars. So I'm gonna use that black out paint. Put on about 5 or 6 coats and get it clear coated when I take my car to get painted.

ditto (cept not 3 years)
combine the blackouts with 5% tint on the back window and try to back up at night, needless to say I use brake lights and my side mirrors with windows down

Yup, my first pair was stolen. My best friend had just sold his camaro, and kept his blackouts so he gave me his. Now they are on really good, and no ones gettin' 'em!!

the only hesitation i have with painting the taillights is if i do get harrased for it i cant just take it off..

someone posted pics of his painted on blackouts, looked really good, said the paint was only like 10 bucks.. anyone know where to get the stuff if i decide to go that route?

I have an extra pair of LUND covers in my garage. They are the kind that fasten on with stickers. My stepdad dropped a filecabinet on my car and luckily?? he only hit my blackout. He tried to fix it before I got home from my trip but my previous ones were clip on. I prefer the clip on so I bought another pair and left these in the garage. Let me know if you want them.
