$550 to paint the nose on my 95 bird?

Perhaps, if it is good quality. They have to prep the existing surface, apply the paint to the RIM plastic (you are not supposed to do regular painting otherwise, it will eventually get "spider cracks) and also blend it in to match the rest of the car.

What about application of clear coat on top of the paint? Is that included?

i got the nose of my maro painted for $150. He sanded it down and sprayed it with a clear coat. It looks really good. He didnt blend mine because that would have costs $330 but he said he could match it without blending it and he did. It looks really good so i would say that $550 is a little high.

Paint prices can vary greatly depending on the quality of the work and painter. I'd ask around at a local hangout to see who does some good work in your neck of the woods. I'm not totally sure where halifax is, so I dunno what's in that area. But I would check out some of the cars he's painted and what is included in that price. then scope out some other painters in your area. Get some prices and what's included with those prices, then work from there to see what type of job you need, from either just touch-up/refinishing, to all out show quality painting.

It all depends on the Labor Rate on your area. If it's $70/hr like it is around here, it sounds right.


2.2 to overhaul the bumper(removal of everthing).
3.5 hours to refinish bumper(includes setup).
$34.46 for a new emblem.
.2 hours to install emblem
$5 for flex additive.
$3 for waster disposal

multiply the hrs by the labor rate to get the price, then add up the rest.
and you don't blend bumpers.

Sounds high to me. When I had mine done out of pocket it was only about 350. Great job too, even had the flat black surfaces 'glossed' with a wet look.
