• Body Swap Camaro to Firebird

Was wondering if The body can be swaped off a completely stock Firebird to a stock Camaro. Im talking the whole thing from hatch to bumper, figured Id have to change the headlights to pop up and the others to standard but? any input?

yeah just trade it with someone that wants a camaro. lol That is kinda funny but not stupid. Now that I think of it he may just want to have a firebird with the camaro interior.

LoL, I didnt ask for opinons =P I have a 98 Z28 That I want the motor and tranny from but dont want the Body, I want the Firebird body. I already have the Z28 I got it for next to nothing, and I am goign to swap the motor, but I figured it would be more fun to swap the body cause teh camaro is a hard top, DO they make hard top firebirds. Ive never seen one =).

The point is I have the ability to body swap , WAY easier than I can engine and tranny swap.

        Edit: I already own a firebird. :

Yes, I supposed you could do that. But it would be a lot easier to just trade it in for a hardtop T/A or Formula.

            you can't easily do this.

you need different back fenders, and that is a lot of work, something that i would not messwith on a unibody car.

Making a car a hardtop, is easy,

yes they did make hardtop firebirds, just no hardtop LS1 TA's (other than the 2 98's that are owned by gm)

the back fenders. between the doors, and the bumper, they are spot welded in place.

pop the hatch in both the camaro, and your firebird. Look to the sides.

the camaro has the hatch seal about 3" below the fender, and the firebird has the hatch seal about 1 inch below the fender.

What you are asking to do is not easy. And you would get stuck with the crappy camaro interior anyways. You want the firebird looks outside, ;) and the interior is nicer.

motor swap, is easier, unbolt the K member, jack up body, slide out old K member, slide in new one, with LS1, do wiring, fuel system, ect...

LS1 motor in an LT1 style 4th gen most often times requires a small cowl hood to fit the motor. Atleast it has in every LT1 LS1 swap I've seen done.
